Chapter 1Most people like to underestimate the power of a lie.
How strongly someone can make you believe something and then, like it was never there, it's gone. You'd like to believe that everyone in this world is honest and yeah, that'd be pretty freaking cool. You're not stupid though, you know that deception is a thing but you still choose to give someone the benefit of the doubt.
I'm not one of those people.Never trust anyone
That rule is practically drilled into my brain and it hurts, bad.
Not being able to trust a single person is the soul reason I am on my way to a different country.Never let your guard down
You never know when someone could attack you at your most vulnerable moment.

This is it.
This is where my future begins as just an ordinary high school student.I set down my suitcase beside me, ringing the doorbell of the house I was going to be living in for my last year of high school.
"You're finally here!" The door swings open as I'm embraced by my host mom.
"Yeah! I finally made it," I laugh awkwardly patting her on the back.
"Oh my goodness dear, I am so sorry. I forgot about the personal space thing! It's very different in America!" She slowly steps away from me.
"Oh, it's okay, it's not much different."
She gestures for me to walk in and I pick up my suitcase and walk through the front door. This was my house for the next year.
"I'm Kate, if you hadn't already known. I'll introduce you to everyone once you get settled in." She smiles and I nod.
We walk up the huge staircase leading to the second floor of the house. There were four doors at the top."That one there is Gavin and mine, there is Stella's room," She points to each door. "That one there is Nate's room. I suggest you not go in there, he's a little grumpy."
She leads me to my room and opens the door.
There is a canopy bed with bookshelves filled with books and a computer on a desk in the corner.
I immediately walk to the books and run my fingers over the spines."They had said that you loved books so Gavin built you a bookshelf and we bought books from a thrift store nearby." She walks towards me.
"I love it, thank you." I turn around and hug her. She was caught off guard but hugged me back.
Guess i'm learning American ways fast."Well you get settled and come down stairs when you're finished, I'm making dinner." She smiles warmly and with that, leaves me to unpack.
I look back at my suitcase and put it on my bed, I unzip it and start unloading it's content.
I pull out my passport and look at it.Name: Della King
Nationality: Australian
Birthdate: November 22nd, 2001
Place of birth: Melbourne, AustraliaThat was only half true.
I put my passport on the side of my suitcase and take out my clothes.

After I finished unpacking, I walk out of my room.
There is light music playing as I walk downstairs.I know this song.
I stop in my place and listen to where it's coming from."shoutout to my ex! you're really quite the man!"
I walk slowly to where the music is coming from and peak through the door. There is who I'm assuming is Stella, dancing around her room. She looks a little younger than me with bright red hair. When I take a closer look, her eyes are slightly puffy. She's been crying.
I open the door slowly "You made my heartbreak and that made me who I am," I sing.
Stella stops mid break dance and looks at me wide eyed. She turns off the music and walks towards me. She pulls me in the room and shuts the door.
"How much did you see?" She asks angrily with a hint of embarrassment.
