"I'm glad you're coming."
I adjust myself in Nate's seat and nod.
"Of course, anything for a frenemy."
Nate laughs and turns into a parking lot of a bar. Really classy. Before we left, Nate asked me to bring my guitar just because, and I wondered what he was up to.
Nate grabs my guitar from the back and leads us to a back door."What is your band name even called?"
Nate stops in his tracks.
"Please don't laugh."
"I might laugh."
"Vomit Ponies."
My mouth curls into a smile.
"Dammit, Del, I told you not to fucking laugh."
"Is that why Stella called it vomit inducing? And I'm not laughing i'm just simply enjoying your company," I touch Nate's chest and he gives me a look. Like a look that could kill, but also fuck. I stop laughing and look at him the same way.
He creeps in closer to me and I stagger back to the brick wall. He puts down the guitar case as he gets closer to me.He's so close to me now I can feel his breath on my forehead. He tilts his head to my ear and whispers.
"You drive me crazy, Del." My breath hitches and I feel something thawing inside of me. I cannot let this happen but my body can't help it.
"You told me that before," I giggle.
What the fuck am I doing? STOP RED ALERT RED ALERT."I don't remember, how about you remind me?"
Nate brings his hand to my thigh and slowly moves up with his fingertips.
Oh my GOD, this man could win an award. It's been like a week and I already want this man to fuck me anywhere and everywhere."I-i- Nate, I-," why am I stuttering? God how embarrassing.
"Del," He whispers as he touches the hem of my romper with his fingertips.
"Hey guys!"
I push Nate away from me as soon as I hear the voice coming from the alleyway. Nate adjusts his pants and takes a swipe at his hair.
"Hey, Isaac." We both say in unison. What just happened? Were we about to-
"Let's get setup Nate, Jake is on the way."
Nate nods and picks my guitar back up from the ground.
"I'll be right there just give me a sec."
Isaac nods back and walks inside leaving me and Nate alone.
"Come back for more?" I tease and brush the hem of my romper.
"Della, I-. Please don't tell anyone that this happened. I'm sorry, I got carried away. I promise it won't happen again."
Nate turns from me and walks inside the bar. He just, ugh I'm so stupid. I should have listened to father. Just be cold, no feelings for any of them. I slump down against the wall and tears begin to form. I miss mama and Darren. I miss home and being around everyone I love. I can't even do my damn job right to get my family back.
