After the argument with Nate on Tuesday, I've decided to hideout in the library for lunches. Plus, I've been doing some research on the computer. I've already looked up anything and everything on Gavin now it's time to dive into Kate. I peek from the computer and look around to make sure no one is looking and begin my search. I click on the first link that pops up and take a bite into my apple slice.
I scroll down to the article I want to read and prepare myself.
'Local Citizen Helps Community After Storm'
This one is just an article about her helping the community by donating food and supplies after a hurricane. I hate that she's such a good person. Every article I come across is just her being awarded for something because she did something good. Nothing, nothing, nothing. I scroll all the way down to a newspaper website and click on it.
'Dustin Trent Passes Away in Action Leaves Widow and Three Children'
This one looked familiar but why do they keep bringing Dustin into it?
'Trent died in action on December 13th 20XX and left behind a wife and three children. Kate Trent, her sons, Nolan and Nathanial, as well as her daughter, Nancy, all pictured.'
Wait... is Kate Trent, Kate Werth? She remarried her deceased husband's best friend? Where are the children though? Are they all grown up? I rub my temples then my phone vibrates. I look at it and see Nate's name on my screen. Then a lightbulb went off.
Nate is Nathaniel. I don't know who Nolan is but i'm going to assume that Stella is Nancy.
This is too weird.
I email the link to myself and log off and shut down the computer."You can't hide forever," a voice behind me says.
I know that voice and I've been doing a great job at avoiding him for three days. I grab my backpack and turn around.
"I can and I fucking will if it means I won't be bothered by you."
I push past him but he grabs my wrist before I can get away.
"Del, please can you at least hear me out?"
"No way, please just leave me alone."
"I don't want to do that," He loosens his grip on my wrist but doesn't let go.
"Shhhhhh," a girl in front of us shushes and then uses her hand to say 'shoo'.
This bitch.
I pull Nate out of the library and position him in front of me."Look, I don't appreciate the attitude every damn time I do something. You're sweet one time and then an absolute asshole the next. You put my head in a tizzy and I can't take it anymore."
I turn around the walk to class and I feel two big arms wrap around my waist. My feet aren't touching the ground anymore. This asshole picked me up.
"Help! Someone help! A jerk has kidnapped me," I whisper yell just to make sure i don't disturb any classes. I don't go easy on the hits though.
"Ow! I'm not putting you down until you listen to what I have to say!" Nate opens the courtyard door with his back and carries me the rest of the way to a bench where he sets me down.
A large sigh comes out of him and he wipes his forehead."I'm not that heavy!"
Nate sits down beside me and I hit his shoulder.
"You're the lightest person I've ever picked up, don't get it twisted. I just haven't worked out in awhile."
He looks like he works out five times a day. How does he do that? I take one bite of a bagel and I feel like I weigh 300 pounds.
"Yeah, just get on with what you wanted to talk about we have class in 8 minutes," I cross my legs and look at him. He really is gorgeous. Gorgeous can only get you so far though, this up and down with him is exhausting.
"Look, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being a disgusting flirt, a grade A douche, mean, moody, rude, any and all negative definitions in the dictionary. I have no excuse to treat you the way I did. I want to be better, I just have a lot of issues to work out. I was mad at my mom and Gavin for bringing a complete stranger into the house and not even consulting me or Stella about it. I wanted to hate you so much but it was hard to. You're really cool, Della. Anyways, I'm sorry and I hope we can be friends and move on from this."
