We were cleaning up our plates when someone knocked on the door.
"Who on earth," Kate walked to the door.

"Get away, I said let me answer it!" Nate yells.

I hear a thud as I continue to help Stella with the dishes.

"Are they okay?" I ask concerned.

"Yeah, mom just hit Nate over the head." Stella laughs.
As if on queue, Kate walks back into the kitchen.

"Oh you girls go upstairs, I'll finish the dishes," She smiles.
We both go upstairs and Stella follows me to my room.
I sit on the floor and pull out my guitar.
I tune it and pluck the strings.

"So who was at the door?" I ask.

"I'm pretty sure it was Nate's girlfriend but I'm not sure."

I nod.

"She wishes she was my girlfriend, I don't date," Nate snarls from outside my room.
Dear god does this guy just sit outside our doors and wait for us to say something about him so he can put his two sense in?

Stella rolls her eyes. "Get out."

Nate slowly walks into my room and runs his fingers on the books on my bookshelf.
"I don't have to go unless she says so," He points to me.
I get up and walk over to him.

"You heard Stella, get out," I whisper and he slowly backs out of my room.
///
Stella and I spend the next few hours talking about anything and everything.
She left to go take a shower and I pull out my sheet music from my suitcase and pull my guitar to me.
I strum a tune that I'm too familiar with.

"Am I blue, Am I blue, Ain't these tears, in these eyes tell you," I sing.

This was his song. He loved this song, he'd play it for me every night. This was the reason I wanted to become a singer.

"Shut up," Nate spits. He's standing in the doorway looking down at me.
I give a hard cold glare as i slowly wipes my eyes.
I hadn't even realized I had been crying.
Nate notices this and sits down beside me.
"I was just kidding you know, I didn't mean for you to cry," Nate says annoyed.

"It wasn't about you, get out."

"You're crying, I can't leave you like this." He says with a hint of concern.

"Your sister was crying and you never asked her if she needed you." I say coldly.
I was right, he hadn't talked to her about it.
If anything, the only reason he wanted to see if I was okay was to get into my pants. Well that's not happening.
I can't have a relationship with my host families son.

"Touché," he gets up and walks out my room.
Thank god.

"You're a really good singer," He smiles then leaves me.
For some reason, I believe in that one moment, that he's being honest.

Everyone had gone to sleep. Kate had come in earlier offering me some food and some pillows but I told her I was fine.
I really was, my host family was amazing except for the fact that Nate was a complete asshole. Part of me was very interested though. I cursed at myself every time I thought of him. I hadn't even been in this house for a whole day and I already felt like he hated my guts. Every time I smiled in their company, my heart twisted. I knew it was wrong for me
I'm browsing the internet looking for any information I hadn't collected when I was back in Australia.
Gavin Werth was a high ranked navy seal until a grenade blew up his sleeping quarters.
Dustin Trent was also in the tent with Werth but did not survive the explosion. Dustin Trent was married with 3 children. ( Nolan, Nathanial, and Nancy)

Wow, slips right off the tongue.
I continue reading.

Werth recovered after 6 months and is still attending physical therapy.
Prayers go out to Trent's family as well as his comrades. May they carry on with life the way he wanted them to.

The name Dustin sounded so familiar to me and I couldn't put a finger on it.
So Gavin was in physical therapy. That could be an advantage if I ever had to go face to face with him. That broke my heart a little. Fighting an innocent person.
I felt bad for Dustin's family. Any family that lost a loved one to the military was heartbreaking.

A few hours had gone by till i realized it was 4 in the morning. I practically jumped into my bed trying to get myself to fall asleep as quickly as possible.

I couldn't.
Everything I had learned tonight and in Australia about Gavin kept me wide awake.
So I did what any exchange student who wasn't really an exchange student would do, I snooped around.
Even though I had school tomorrow all I would be doing is taking a tour and meeting my teachers.

I began to walk down the stairs when a door creaked open. I turned and saw a tall blonde slowly tiptoe out of Nate's room.
Oh my god.
Shit. Shit. Shit.

I started to quietly run when I was caught.

"Who the hell is this?" The blonde asks.

"She's my moms exchange student." Nate looks at me as I look at him.

"You better not sleep with her, I bet she doesn't even know what I'm saying," She takes another look at me and speaks slowly "Sorry.. Sweetie... Don't make a move on my boy-friend. Do... You... Under... Stand?"

"Yes dumbass, I'm from Australia. But I'm sure you don't know where that is. Or am I wrong?" I squint my eyes at her. I can barely see her but I can tell her lipstick is smudged.

She growls but all I hear is Nate laughing.

"Courtney, baby, you know we're not exclusive. Della can sleep with me anytime she wants there's always enough to go aro-" Nate's cut off.

"What the hell is going on in here," Gavin asks obviously pissed.

Gavin turns on the hall light and looks from me to Courtney to Nate.

"What the hell are you thinking letting a girl stay her this long. I told you she needed to leave 6 hours ago!" Gavin goes right up to Nate and points his finger.

"Well you wouldn't have known if little ms accent here hadn't went out of her room." Nate scoffs.
Courtney slowly walks down the stairs and blows a kiss at Nate. Nate just rolls his eyes. Courtney looks at me and hisses as if I had just pissed in her cereal.

"What were you doing out of your room?" Gavin asks a little calmed down.

I had been waiting on this question so I could use the easiest excuse in the book.

"I was going to get a drink of water when Nate walked out of his room with Courtney. It was my fault they woke you up. I'm sorry." Hopefully he buys it.

"Oh no Della you're good. Nate was the one who broke the rules."

Stella walks out of her room rubbing her eyes.
"What the fu-" She stops when she sees Gavin.

Gavin looks at her with an eyebrow raised.

"I swear to god Gavin, I'm 17, I think I can have a girl over."

Nate called him Gavin. Did that mean that Gavin wasn't his dad?

"Yes, you can have girls over. But not at damn 4:30 in the fucking morning!"

Stella walks over to me and makes me follow her down the stairs. "I'll get you a glass of water."

"Thanks." I might as well just get a glass of water so Gavin and Nate can chat.... well fight.
