Hinata's POV:

I arrived at the changing rooms, next up was PE. I had left the classroom as fast as possible to avoid Komaeda. I know I was planning to not necessarily avoid him but I ended up doing it anyway, though I really didn't like doing this to him. Every time when I would turn around or walk away he had this sad look on his face. It's really hard for me to do but I have to! I hope he doesn't hate me after doing this...

I changed into my sport outfit and entered the sports hall. I played a bit with a ball till the teacher called us.

"Okay class, today we are going to play badminton. You'll team up in pairs and try to hit the shuttle as many times as possible together. I'll be making the pairs to avoid useless fights.

The teachers started making duos. I just waited for him to tell me with who I'd be playing.

"Hinata!" The teacher called.

"Yes?" I responded.

"You're with Komaeda." He said. My eyes widened.

Oh no... No no no! What do I do? He'll ask me what's going on and then what do I say? I don't know what I should tell him! What am I-"

"Hinata-kun!" Komaeda smiled. He walked over to me with two rackets and a shuttle.

"Come on, let's find a good spot so we can start!" He exclaimed.

I was confused. Why isn't he mad at me? I had completely ignored him today! Why isn't he yelling at me?

Komaeda grabbed my arm and dragged me over to a good spot.

"Here we have plenty of space~" He said. I nodded.

"Yeah..." I said.

For now I decided to just go along and play badminton with him. I could always ask him later.

Komaeda threw the shuttle in the air and hit it with his racket. It came over to me. I jumped and tried to hit it as hard as I could. It hit the ground next to Komaeda.

"Hey, Hinata-kun, we're supposed to work together remember? This isn't a competition..." Komaeda said.

"Oh, yeah... right. I'm sorry." I said as I rubbed the back of my head.

"It's okay." He said. He threw the shuttle again in the air and hit it. This time I hit it normally and it went back to Komaeda. Then it came back to me, then back to Komaeda.

We went on like that for a couple of minutes. After that we got new orders. Komaeda and I stayed together as a duo and we actually had a pretty fun time.

Finally the hour was over and we went back to the changing rooms. While we were changing I decided to at least tell Komaeda a bit.

"Hey, Komaeda?" I said.

"Hmm?" He said while he was putting on his shirt.

"I'm sorry about today, the way I avoided you and everything." I apologized. He looked at me and frowned, but that frown turned into a smile immediately.

"That's okay, Hinata-kun! I understand that you'd grow tired of garbage like me." He said.

"No no no no! It's nothing like that! I'd never grow tired of you!" I exclaimed.

"You... wouldn't?" He asked.

"Of course not! It's just that..." I paused.

"That what, Hinata-kun?" He asked.

"Look, I have my reasons for doing this, and believe me, it's for the best. I would never do something like this without a good reason. But I can't tell you why yet..." I tried to explain.

His eyes darkened a bit for a few seconds, but they soon turned back to normal.

"Ah, that makes me happy to hear! But, will you tell me why eventually?" He asked.

"Yes, but I don't know when yet." I said. He nodded. "And also I can't talk to you as much as we used to at the moment. I'll try to stop with the avoiding as much as possible, but I can't stop entirely."

He nodded. "I understand." I was really relieved to hear that.

"Well, I'm gonna get going. See you!" Komaeda said.

"Bye Komeda!" I said as I waved him off. He opened the door and walked out of the changing rooms.

Komaeda's POV:

I walked out of the changing rooms and headed home. A lot of thoughts were going through my head right now. I really hoped Hinata would tell me soon... Well, at least now I know that he indeed has a reason for doing this.

I started thinking of possible reasons for Hinata to do this. Lots of stupid useless ideas started to form in my head, though one of them seemed plausible. What if something or someone was the reason for this...

I arrived at the front door. I unlocked it and entered my house. I dropped my bags on the floor and went to the kitchen. There I tried to find something to eat.

After a while of searching I was only able to find an apple.

"I really have to visit the grocery store more often..." I mumbled. I grabbed a knife out of the drawer and started cutting the apple into pieces.

My thoughts wandered off again. What if it was indeed a person... someone that made Hinata do this... If that's the case I'll have to deal with them personally. No one gets in the way of Hinata and me... no one...

"Hahaha... Don't worry Hinata-kun... I'll protect you from whoever caused all of this- OUCH!" I exclaimed.

I looked down at my hands. I accidentally chopped the entire apple into tiny pieces and cut in my fingers. I grumbled something under my breath and walked over to the sink. I tried to wash away the blood that was dripping from my fingers, but the cuts were pretty deep so the blood just kept flowing. I tried to add some pressure on the wounds. It worked. A few moments later the blood had stopped flowing and I was able to put some bandages around them.

I looked back at the apple I was cutting. There was almost nothing of it left. I sighed.

"I really have to stop spacing out like that... and thinking like that as well. Hinata said he'd tell me later and here I am, thinking of what could've happened... It probably wasn't even someone that made him do it, but Hinata himself that decided it. And what if someone made him do it? It's not like that's any reason to hurt someone. Now I ended up cutting myself and i got nothing left to eat... great."

I checked the time on my phone. "The stores should still be open, so I guess I'll just go buy food."

I walked back outside and started heading to the grocery store.
