I was procsstanting getting ready this morning, today wasn't any regular day, today was the day I finally put my grandma to rest. I stood in front of my full body mirror and stared at myself. My black maxi dress hugged all my curves and my white and black leather blazer set the look off, i wore a pair of my white red bottom heels. My hair pinned up into a updo and my gold hooped earrings hung down both side of my face. I held back tears trying to not ruin the makeup Kiara did for me. As i stood in front of the mirror I felt someone's arms warm around me. I was in a daze I didn't even pay attention to who was behind me.
"It's going to be okay" i listened to Que whisper in my ear.
'I'm not sure if i'm ready for today" I replied stilling looking in the mirror.
"You'll get through this Carmen, I'm here for you I gave Derrick my word," Que replied turning me around to face him.
"Seem's like you kyrie been around more than you, and honestly we are closer than me and kyrie i barely know him" I looked Que in the eye's as i spoke Que was like a big brother to me more than i thought Javoni was. Que was the same height as derrick with a brush cut; well not so much now it look like he ain't been to the shop in two weeks his waves was gone and his hair was looking like a carpet. He had a brown skin complexion and almond shaped eyes with little brown eye's with a full face beard and skinny probably only weigh 125. Que was definitely a handsome dude when he cleaned up nice.
"I'm Carmen I've been busy helping Javoni keep business a float " I smiled and folded my arms across my chest.
"And what's going with your head ? you lookin rough Quincy" I laughed while rubbing my hand on his nappy hair.
"Yo i've been busy ight" Que laughed while rubbing his hand over his head hoping it'll help brush his hair back to the way it was before "And stop calling me by my government name"
"Shut up Quincy that's your name always have been," i replied.
"Naw Que always been my name"
" hey you guys ready?" i heard Shaniece say standing in my doorway of my room.
"Yes we are" i replied turning my attention to her. Que walked out the room and i grabbed my purse and phone off the dresser. Shaniece walked to the living room with my holding my hand. The limo was supposed to pick us up and take us to the funeral. The service started at 10:30 and it was already 10. My living room was filled with close family and friends as i was about to speak to everyone my eye's landed on a familiar face. My mother was sitting on my couch crying. I froze i didn't know if i wanted to be angry or happy to see her. My mom had the same skin complexion and her hair was long and curly i could see her gray hairs poking through her thick hair. Her eye's was a hazelnut color and had dimples. She was also shaped just like me thick in all the right places. I was about to approach when i noticed an unfamiliar caucasian man comforting my mother. He was in deed handsome he had green eyes and shoulder length sandy brown curly hair, he was dressed in all black suit and brown dress shoes and silver rolex was on his left wrist. Before i could approach him he stood to his feet and held out his hand.
"Hi Carmen i'm Gabriel" he smiled showing off his perfect pearly whites. I stood there froze in place and everyone was watching intensely.
"I'm sorry for your lose of your grandmother when me and your mother got the call from Quincy about the passing we got here as soon as we could"
"Ya'll could've stayed where ever you was at, my mother never called or came to see her in years, but want to show up to my grandma's funeral and who are you?' i spoke sternly trying to hold back tears.
