·Jonathan·
All these doors look the same, I have no idea how I'm meant to find my room; I've walked into two janitors closets so far, but at least I've found out where the bathrooms are.
"New here?"
Thank God, another person.
I turn to see a mildly concerned girl staring at me, her hand on her hip."Brand," I answer sheepishly.
"Lost?" She then asks I nod to which she smiles. "It took me a whole week to find my way around when I came here. What room are you looking for?"
"Performing Arts."
"I can take you there." She said and started walking, I followed quietly.
She didn't speak until she stopped in front of a door identical the others."This is it." She said.
"Thank you," I mumbled, she nods and waves as she walks away.
I open the door and whatever was going on in the room stopped, everyone was looking at me."Groff?" Asks a man at the front of the room- the teacher, Mr Jackson.
I nod.
"Everyone, our new student has arrived." He said to the class then turned back to me, gesturing to come in and introduce myself.
I have never been the one to try and grab the spotlight so I was just a little nervous about speaking in front of everyone."My name is Jonathan," I announce awkwardly, Mr Jackson nodded at me to continue.
"I'm from Pennsylvania-""Sorry I'm late, sir." The door flew open, Mr Jackson rolled his eyes.
I turn to the door and see a boy with his hair in a bun faced away from me to the teacher."Have a seat." He said, the boy nodded and turned, looking at me.
My heart went boom. He didn't pay much attention to me, just a quick glance before he walks past me and sat on a desk amongst the rest of students.
"You too." Mr Jackson said to me.I nodded and sat at the only desk that was not occupied by a group of students, unfortunately, it was on the other side of the room from him.
I could hardly pay attention to whatever is was that Mr Jackson was saying.
My eyes were fixed on him, sadly the back of him. His focus was devoted to his friends, a little on the lesson and none to me. All I could do was stare at the back of his head and hoped he'd turn around.
His dark hair was ever so slowly coming loose from its bun, he pulled out the hair tie and retied it."Groups of four please." I heard Mr Jackson instruct. Students moved into groups and I stood quickly, meaning to make a group with him.
But three others had beat me to his side, I frowned and sat back down slowly."Jonathan, join our group." A girl offered, she stood in front of my desk and smiled warmly. I didn't know her and I didn't really want to be with her group, whoever they were, but I agreed anyway because everyone else already had their groups.
"My name is Phillipa." She said as she led me to her group, two other girls sat waiting in one corner of the room. His group wasn't far away but still, his back was to me.
I only caught a glimpse of his face earlier and all I focused on then was his intelligent eyes in a hunger-pang frame."Hi." I mumbled as I sat with the girls. I felt my cheeks flush just a little pink as they smiled at me, they were all very pretty.
"Hey, I'm Jasmine." One of them said in welcoming tone. Her eyes smiled too, she's clearly a friendly person.
Besides working headphones, friends are what gets you through highschool, these girls are a good starting point.Mr Jackson spoke again before the last girl could introduce herself to me.
My eyes fell on him again and I zoned out completely. I don't know how long I had been staring off at nothing really but none of the girls tried to shake me from my trance.
His eyes were burned into my mind, I tried to imagine his smile, which brought a grin to my own face."Hey, dream boy." Jasmine snapped her fingers in front of my face. I blinked and looked at her, she wore a confused smile.
"What?"
"Didn't you hear the bell ring?" She chuckled, I glanced around and found the room was almost empty, but what I noticed was that he was already gone.
I frowned."Uh, no, sorry. My mind was somewhere else."
"Miles." She giggled and collected her books and pencils before we both left the room.
"What were you thinking about?""Nothing really." I lied, she nodded and zipped up her bag after putting her things away.
"Want to sit with us?" We began walking to the cafeteria, I nodded with a smile.
"Yeah, I'd like that."
We continue walking side by side to the crowded, loud cafeteria. Jasmine grabs my wrist and leads me to a table near the far wall, Philipa and the other girl were there."I didn't to introduce myself." She said, leaning forward and extending her hand.
"I'm Renee." I shook her hand and sat across from her, she and Philipa already had their lunch trays."Aren't you going to get something?" Asked Jasmine, she's still standing as if waiting for me. I shake my head, she raises an eyebrow but leaves anyway.
As I watch her leave I notice the three boys that had made a group with him in class.
They were talking and laughing and sure enough, he was with them. He looked at me, I turned my head away immediately and hoped neither Renee or Philipa noticed my cheeks flushing red."Hey guys." He said, now beside our table with his friends behind him.
"Hey." Philipa grinned, Renee made a noise that sounded like hello, she had food in her mouth.
Philipa shifted from beside me to next to Renee, gesturing to the empty spot beside me."Hi, I'm Lin." He smiled as he sat next to me, his friends joining. Why are these tables so long?
I look to him but I don't say anything; I just stare.
Someone who I assume was Renee kicked my leg under the table, I glanced at her and she mouths say hi."Um, hey." I say a little hesitantly. "I'm-" Shit. I forgot my dang name.
"This is Jonathan." Philipa announced after I remain silent for a minuet. Now he probably thinks I'm an idiot.
