We'd been given a class to just draw in our sketchbooks. I'd decided to practice drawing from reality and got Vanessa to stay in one position while she draws. The way her hair curls behind one of her ears, the way her eyes focus on her art. The way her hand moves as she draws, almost effortlessly. She was truly beautiful while she was concentrating, all her effort put into one task. I wanted to capture that moment, that beauty, forever.
By half way, through the class, I had a pretty good (and accurate) drawing of Vanessa. I intertwined my hand with hers and decided to draw that. I drew the way our fingers laced together. The way they seemed to be perfect for one another.
When the bell rang I had two drawings of Vanessa. I could have done better on both of them but I decided to do them as simple as possible due to the time limit.
Time limits were my worst enemy. They limit your ability to be creative and have done the task to the best of your ability.
Time limits and deadlines are curses.

Packing up all I used, not much, and intertwining my hands with Vanessa's, we began walking to the canteen. Really the only place we go.
We arrived at the table, I sweep my gaze around, seeing who was with us. My gaze falls on the spare seat at the table.
Jonathan.
Maybe he's just late.. trying to convince myself I sit down, not hungry and lean against Vanessa's side.

The lunch break continues. Anthony doesn't fall off his chair this time. Daveed starts ranting about Macaroni and Cheese. Oak just sits there (very unlike him). Vanessa goes to the canteen and brings back everyone sandwiches, because 'you have to eat!'. We snack on sandwiches laughing about this and that.
All throughout the break, my gaze will linger on that one seat. The empty seat that Jonathan occupied. The one on the very end, next to me.

Where is he... I don't want to admit to myself that he may have found new friends.

Daveed somehow managed to start a heated argument about Macaroni and cheese with Oak.the argument may have been short, but it was very entertaining.

"What do you mean-" Daveed scowled, imitating Oak, "'it's not a good food' It's amazing!"

"Yeah well, I can have my own opinion." Oak proceeds to cross his arms and huff.

"Well, your opinion is wrong." Daveed gets all up in Oak's face.

"And yours isn't! Mr Macaroni and Cheese Tacos!" Oak shoved Daveed backwards and he slid a bit on the shiny seats.

Daveed scurried forward and prodded Oak in the chest, "I stand by my tacos thank you very much."

"Ah yes, but that's just your opinion," Oak smirked as Daveed's expression fell. He'd been played.

Daveed turned around and refused to look at oak. "I hate you."

Oak laughed, "Nah man, you love me."

Daveed took his opportunity to shove Oak, it didn't work. The man didn't even budge. "Unfair..." Daveed muttered to himself.

At that moment Vanessa leaned over to me and whispered into my ear. "They're so married..."

I nodded in agreement. "You think they would have invited us to the wedding..."

Vanessa covered her mouth as we both giggled. Anthony watched on smirking at the whole event. Then we looked back up and noticed that Daveed and Oak were staring at us.

Daveed raised an eyebrow. "We can hear you y'know."

Vanessa broke out into a fit of laughter, soon followed by Anthony, myself and then eventually Daveed and Oak shortly after.

The break continued on and there was no Jonathan.
He didn't come to sit with us.
He didn't meet up with me to walk to class.
He didn't show up at the classroom until the bell went.
