JON AND LEA FROM THEIR SPRING AWAKENING DAYS THIS IS WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE IN THIS FIC
~
·Jonathan·

I step off the bus.
Taking my headphones out, I walk up the driveway of our house.
Dad's car isn't here, I suppose he's gone to another job interview.
We moved a few days ago, we still have things to unpack and, as far as I know, neither of my parents are even close to finding a new job.

My mum greets me when I step inside.
"Hey Jon, how was your first day?"

"It was fine." I say, heading up the stairs. "I'm gonna unpack the rest of my stuff."

I go to my room, its bare except for my bed, a cupboard and a desk.
I've put most of my clothes in the cupboard but still have some left in my suitcase.
On my desk is my laptop, I start it up first and open Skype.
As soon as I do, it says I have a call from my best friend, Lea.
She's always on...
I accept it and her face pops up on the screen, smiling and waving.

"Jon!" She says happily, I sit at my desk and wave back. She frowns as she says her next statement.
"It hasn't even been a week and I miss you so much."

"I miss you too." I say a little sadly.
"You gotta come visit sometime."

"I'll try...Hey, have you started school yet?" As she changes the topic, her tone and expression changes too.

"Yeah, today was my first day."

"How was it? What's the school like? Did you meet anyone?" Lea continued to shoot questions, I laughed.

"Just stop." I say. "It was fine, but the school's really big, I got lost.",

"Do you have any friends?" She asks teasingly. I've never been good at making friends, she knows that, she's really the only friend I've ever had.

"I....I'm not sure." I say, thinking of Leslie's group and Lin. Lin already has lots of friends apparently, and Leslie's friends are..... I don't think they'd call me their friend.

"I hope you find some." Lea smiles hopefully. "But don't forget about me."

"How could I? You're my best friend."

We continue talking for hours until David, my older brother, tells me to come down for dinner. I frown and sigh.

"I'll talk to you later." I say and close Skype, ending the call. Checking my phone, its almost seven.

When I come down stairs, David and mum are setting the table, dad still has his suit on for interviews, I don't know when he got home.
He ruffles my hair as he passes and sits opposite mum at the head of the table.
The placing of the chairs leaves David and I facing each other.
I stifle a laugh, it looks so cliché, like its from an old movie where the dad works and mum stays home to cook and clean.
We're not really like that though.

"How was school?" Dad asks as I sit down, David opposite me.

"It was fine." I tell him, mum chuckles.

"You said the same thing to me." She says as if scolding me, but she's still smiling. "Elaborate, did you have fun, did you meet anyone?"

Of course I met people. And as for having fun..... I guess? I mean, beside the whole stealing and smoking thing, nothing really sucked all that much.
"Yeah, I guess."

"Have you made any friends?" Dad then asks. If he knew anything about me, he'd know there's no way I'd make friends on my first day.
I keep eating and don't answer, I'm not even all that hungry.
I actually feel guilty, for smoking mostly but I feel bad about ditching Lin.
He seemed like he was expecting me to show up at lunch, I didn't even tell him why I wasn't there.

I stand, my plate only half empty.
"Aren't you going to finish?" Mum asked as I pick up my plate.
I shake my head as I take my plate to the kitchen.

"I'm not really that hungry." I say as I pass them again, heading up to my room. From the corner of my eye, I see my mum looked to dad but he shrugs.
I pull out my phone and start texting Lea again.

Jonathan
"I'm back."

Lea
"Hey"

"I need advice."
"About a guy at school"

"Oooooh!💗 Got a crush?"

"Shut up its not that kind of advice."
I sigh, shaking my head even though she can't see it.
I go into my room, I'd usually help with the dishes but I just feel like being alone at the moment.

"Too bad."
"What is it then?"

"He's possibly a friend, but I think he's a bad influence."
"What do I do?"
I was genuinely curious, Leslie wasn't the best example as far as I know, smoking and stealing, but I don't know what to do.

Lea doesn't reply, instead my phone rings.

"What do you mean bad influence?" Is what I hear when I answer it, we could have kept texting.

"Like... Smoking and stuff." I say, hearing Lea sigh on the other end.

"And stuff?"

"Yeah, stuff."
I kick my shoes off, not caring where they landed, as I fall back onto my bed.

"Well, if you think he will provoke you, I'd stop hanging around him." Lea tells me, she can't see it but I nod.
She seems to always have good or reasonable advice.

"Okay." I say, then my door opens. I sit up, David stands there, looking at me expectantly.

"You okay?" He asks, I put Lea on hold and set my phone down.

"Yeah,"
He crosses his arms over his chest with a skeptical look.
"I'm fine."

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, why wouldn't I be?"

"You seem...distant." He informs me,

"What's that supposed—"

"You weren't like this before we moved." David cuts me off.
"I know when you're upset and I can tell why—"

"I said I'm fine!"
He goes quiet, so do I.
"Please, just get out of my room."

He goes, shutting the door behind him.
He was right and that's why I snapped at him, I hadn't meant to. I never wanted to move, I wanted to stay in Pennsylvania.
I liked it there, I had friends there- even if it was just Lea.

"Shit." I realize I left Lea on hold.
"You still there?"

"Did you just put me on hold? How dare you." She scolds but I hear her laughing.

We talk all night, I'm so tired and I regret it by the time my alarm rings.
