7. Cori!

Reina: I messed up. When I was giving you the options, I meant to say that either way, you'll defend Mikoto. To make up for it, I'll make Reader-chan do something epic.

You're also about to enter familiar territory.

Chapter 7: Cori!

You could only stare in horror as the man pointed his weapon at Queen Mikoto. He moved his mouth, and suddenly, the weapon broke into shards and aimed straight at Mikoto.

"Mother!" The Hoshidans screamed.

As the shards were crossing the middle of the room, there was a blur of movement, and something hit the shards, causing them to get embedded into it.

You could only gape at the newcomer, who lowered their shield with the shards in it.

"I came here to celebrate a party and take a break, only for a jerk like you to come in and ruin the fun. Are you trying to get me to work overtime?"

"Echo...." You whispered.

Echo was wearing a purple and pink kimono, and her hair was up in a ponytail, but it was black. She narrowed her eyes.

"Hey," she hissed. "I know you."

The newcomer said nothing, watching Echo. Shadows entered the building as well, taking the form of humans with weapons.

Echo grabbed her kimono and smiled. "Saa, tatakaimashou!"

She threw her kimono off, revealing a black suit underneath. Summoning a sword, she lunged at the man and attacked.

In that moment, the Hoshidans and their retainers entered the fray, with Takumi, a female retainer, and the ninjas attacking from a distance, while a girl in pink and a man with long red hair began to move people away from the fight. Cori left your side and pulled out a sword, joining the skirmish as well.

People kept running away from the fight, screaming. You stayed in place, frozen. You didn't know how to fight, yet you didn't want to run.

An arrow passed by your head, and as you turned, you saw it hit Mikoto.

"MOTHER!" Cori and Cora screamed.

Mikoto fell over, grabbing her side. You turn to see Echo battling the mystery man. She was hit and sent backwards, but didn't fall. Before she could resume her fight, Cori and Cora jumped at the man, hitting him and sending them flying backwards and out of the palace, pursing him.

More arrows headed towards Mikoto. Your body went into autopilot, and grabbing one of the chairs, you blocked all the arrows heading towards Mikoto until Takumi shot the archer and killed it.

You lowered the chair in shock. Did I....?

That was epic! Lamia cheered.

It wa- MIKOTO!

Remembering that she was injured, you run to Mikoto, only to see Cassandra appear and help the queen up. "I got her," she assured you. "Fend off those shadows!"

You could only nod, and you turned around, sprinting towards the fight. The shadows' numbers had dwindled, with only a few left. You slow down, only to realize that Cori and Cora had left the palace.

Something bad is about to happen, Lamia muttered. Go after them!

You dash out of the palace and down the stairs. You moved forward, only to trip and fall down, scraping your hands and tearing your kimono. Groaning, you slowly get back up and continue run, not caring that you were still tearing your kimono.
