Chapter 3

"LAST STOP!" The bus driver yelled.

I got off the bus and went west. I kept walking and walking and walking. The road never seemed to end. My bags started getting heavier. It started to rain. wow just my luck.

I saw a motel and walked in. The lady gave me a few glances. I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed my room key. I walked into my room and immediately plugged in my electronics. I toke a shower and flopped into bed. it was such a long day and I just wanted it to end.

*************MORNING************

I yawned an stretched. I packed up my stuff at about 9 am. The town was up and about. I kept walking and walking.

"Hello there." a low voice said

"Uhh hi?" it came out as a question

"Come here!" he said lurching at me

"No!!" I screamed and ran. I ran into someone's house which made her scream.

"Sorry, some man was trying to kidnap me, your house was the first one I saw." I said out of breath

"Oh it's ok." the lady said. She had light blonde curly hair and was plump and was wearing an apron.

"May I rest?" I asked

"Sure. here I will make some cookies." she rushed to the kitchen

I thought to myself. This stranger is nicer to me than my mom... it's sad.

She came back with a plate of cookies, milk and a little girl.

"This is Amanda. Amanda say hi"

"Hi there" Amanda said. She was short. Seeming about 10 or so, around my age.

"Hi Amanda I'm Kevin." I said a grabbed her hand. She pulled me into a hug and smiled. Nicer than my brother, I thought.

Her mom spoke up

"So where do you live?"

"Uhh I'd rather not say." I said sheepishly

"Oh I see. what happened?" she said concern in her eyes.

"I-I uhh I umm ran away. Don't even try to bring me back cause I will...!"

The woman cut me off

"It's ok. I won't bring you back if you don't wanna. how bout you stay here for a long while?"

"I would like that." I smiled, the first real smile I've had in the longest time.

Me and Amanda got ready for bed. I slept in her room on a make-shift bed. Before I was about to close my eyes Amanda laughed.

"Silly goose aren't you forgetting something?" she laughed.

"Well we can get to know eachother in the morning I promise good night." u say quickly. again I closed my eyes

"Haha you crack me up. We need to pray silly." she laughed and knelt beside her bed. She looked pretty cute. I slapped myself, and knelt beside her.

"What exactly are we doing." I asked.

"We are praying. Talking to God our Heavenly Father duh." she said and rolled her eyes as she started the prayer.

"Dear God thank you so much for this wonderful day. Thank you for Kevin. I hope he stays for a long time. He already feels like a brother. Amen." she looked up and smiled.

A single tear rolled down and I wiped it away. I then was pushed over and was on the ground, something I felt alot at my old house with my family but this was different. I opened my eyes and Amanda was hugging me. I returned the hug awkwardly.

She smiled and hopped off to bed. I crawled to my bed and went under the covers. I started crying. I love these people already and with that I fell asleep.
