Chapter Fourteen

HARRY.

I pace around the room, thinking over the best stategy to approach my father and successfully convince him that the corpses are changing, without him shooting Z's head off?

"How would we even do this?" I groan, sinking back down on my bed. Z looks back and forth between me and Louis, and the latter has his thinking face on.

"Our first question should be... how the hell do we even bring Z in front of your Dad, let alone if he even gets a chance to speak to him," Louis smart-asses.

I huff. "You're right."

Louis' gaze wanders everywhere, then lands on something behind me, and he gives a devious smirk. He looks at Z carefully, then grins at me.

"How about we disguise him?" Louis wags his eyebrows.

I stop my pacing and frown at Louis. "How? Make him wear a mask or something? Dad's gonna question that!"

Louis shakes his head. "Nah. I was thinking, like, making him appear human. And, I'll be right back!" He races out of the room, and then pops back in.

"Meanwhile, get him into a shower!" he says, then disappears again.

"What?!" Z and I yell after Louis. We theb share a look and I shrug.

"Guess we gotta make you look human, make you look cleaner. No offense," I chuckle awkwardly.

Z nods unsurely, and heaves out a helpless sigh. I guide him to the bathroom, providing him with a few towels.

Louis returns a few minutes later, and Z is also done with his shower, looking super clean but even more paler than before.

"Lookin' clean corpse," Louis nods at Z, who just rolls his eyes.

"Oh. And this," he triumphantly holds a box up. As I understand what Louis is suggesting, so does Z.

"N-no way!" he protests, pouting, and throws away the towel he was drying his hair with.

Louis and I share a smirk, and he opens my sister's old makeup box, splaying the contents on the table.

"Yes way!" I grin, as we push Z into a chair, and Louis begins to work on him. He has little sisters, so thankfully he knows what he's doing.

Z protests a bit but then has no choice but to give in. I try to keep my chuckles in the whole time. Louis dabs at Z's pale skin, then scrunches up his nose.

"This won't do," he tutts.

"What's wrong?"

"We need music!" Louis crows, and races over to the iPod dock. I roll my eyes and cross my arms.

The familiar music begins to play and Louis grins widely. I give him a flat look.

Don't need makeup, to cover up

The way that you are is en-nough-ugh

"Seriously? Turn that off!" I scoff.

"What? It's funny!" Louis protests, but turns the song off.

We then get back to work on Z, using my sister's beauty products, especially the base and concealer to darken Z's almost white skin tone.

"There. Viola!" Louis exclaims, and Z finally stand up, facing us. When I finally look at him fully, my breath catches in my throat. He looks so much human, and so damn attractive. His blue eyes shining, his black hair all messy, and that stubble. He looks so...

"You look hot!" Louis whistles, and Z's eyes widen at the unusual compliment.

"Alright," I clap my hands. "Now that Z is disguised, it's time for the real business," I remind them both.

"Right," Louis nods, and I blink in shock as Louis pulls out a gun from his waistband, and loads it. He shrugs at me.

"You never know."

I nod nervously. I jump as I feel Z's ice cold hand slip into mine, and comfortingly squeeze my hand. I look up at him with a grateful smile, and he smiles back, letting go of my hand.

"Alright then," Louis takes a deep breath. "Let's go, team!"

I roll my eyes but follow Louis, Z by my side. We carefully walk out of the house, and cross the streets, our destination the common building where the Colonel currently is.

I hope to God Dad actually listens, and no harm comes to Z. Dad needs to know this. Listen to his, from the zomvie himself. Z needs to prove to him that they are changing. This is big, this is what we were waiting for; the cure. And now it's finally here.
