after taking care of business with Angelo, we didn't do anything too bad. just punched him a couple times and told him that if he ever hurt Taylor again he'd be sorry. we run this town after all.

once we got into the car i got into the back with Taylor, she was asleep but her breathing was shallow.

"Taylor?" i asked her, shaking her softly.

"Taylor!" i said again, no response...

"shit! go to the hospital!" i told the driver.

"yes sir." he said before driving off as the three of us tried to get her to wake up, she started shaking and sweating and i lifted up her shirt to have a look at her stomach. from what i could see of her hip bones, they where protruding far out from her abdomen.

"she's malnourished. we gotta get her to a doctor quick!" i said again.

"i'm going sir, we're pulling in right now." the driver said as we pulled up to the hospital.

"how can i help you?" asked the woman behind the desk, however once she saw the unconscious child in my arms she called for a gurnie.

"her name's Taylor, she was beaten and is malnourished." i told the woman.

"okay if you will just sit in the waiting room, we're gonna get her hooked up to an IV and tend to her wounds, now sit down with us and tell me what happened?" she said before leading the three of us to the chairs. what the hell are we gonna tell her?! then it hit me, what Taylor told me before!

"she's my daughter, she ran away a couple weeks ago and we've been trying to find her like nothing else... then we walked into CVS to see her with one of her friends trying to tend to the wounds. she said she had been in a fight, as we where on our way here for her face and ribs, she gained unconsciousness." i explained.

"alright, well dad. we should get her all foxed up. we'll get an X-ray of her ribs, she'll get some food in her once she wakes up. we'll notify you as soon as she wakes up." she told me.

"thank you ma'am." i told her before slouching back in the chairs.

"i'll go call some of the guys to get here, and protect the hospital wail she's here." said Grandfather before going outside on his phone.

"it'll be okay Ed, she's a tough kid." said Frank, giving me a pat on the back.

"i know, i just wish i could have prevented this. we should have gotten her to stay with us those weeks ago. she needs a home, other than the streets." i ranted to Frank

"non preoccupatevi Edvige, otterremo quei figli di puttana di pagare"(don't worry Edvige we'll get those sons of bitches to pay!) he spoke in Italian as people started to come into the ER

after about twenty minutes Grandfather came back in with my cousins Castro, and Carlos, the twins. Castro is a BIG guy standing around six foot nine with a buff build, and he had his hands full of balloons and stuffed animals for her.

"sorry we're late, Carlos wanted to get her stuff." he said, outta breath.

"don't even start!" Carlos said before throwing a stuffed rabbit at him.

"the crew wanted to send some stuff for her." finished Carlos

the two of them could turn heads with Castro being six foot nine, and Carlos only being five foot nine. still you wouldn't wanna be punched by either of them.

"Taylor Agapito?" the nurse asked walking back.

i stood up and motioned for them to wait a minute, but took one of the stuffed bears from Castro. as the nurse led me back to one of the rooms i felt anger boil in me, at the fact that

Agelo, a fairly level headed guy, would hurt her.

"here we go." said the nurse before we got to the door.

"so first we'll talk about over all health, she does have a broken rib, other than that her face seamed to be in okay shape, besides a bloody nose and a black eye." she said before looking over her sheet.

"can i go in now? i wanna see my baby girl!" i said, a bit taken aback once i realized what i said... baby girl? adding to the act... yeah, that.

"yeah, that should be about it. we can have her outta here by tomorrow and you can take her home." the nurse said with a warm smile.

"thanks." i told her before opening the door and walking in.

"where's my bag?" was the first thing she asked.

"nah, kid. you can't walk away so easily from this." i told her with a slight chuckle.

"hey Edvige." she said, giving me a small broken smile.

"where am i?" she asked.

"hospital, i told them i was your dad, we're taking you back to the house tomorrow." i told her.

"n-no i'll be okay." she said, we both know what a huge lie that is.

"Taylor you have a broken rib, we gotta get you into bed rest so that can heal up." i told her.

"how long?" she asked with a sigh.

"around six weeks." i told her.

her eyes widened.

"why are you so afraid to stay in one place too long?" i asked her.

"it's more of the fact that they don't like me. i wanna make a good impression on the Mafia, and i don't wanna overstay my welcome anywhere." she explained.

"that's not our family." someone said from the door.

i looked to see Grandfather there as well as Castro and Carlos."

"what do you mean?" she asked confused.

"once a part of the family we die for one another, you're a part of the family. now don't ever think yourself a burden Tesoro." he said before coming over and sitting down in one of the chairs by her.

"thanks Grandfather." she said with a small smile.

Castro came in and put all the stuffed animals and ballons on the counter before we all gathered around and chatted, getting to know Taylor better.
