no one really minded that Castro and Carlos had bought "me" an entire stores worth of yarn, it just gave them an excuse to go talk to other crocheters.what they were surprised about was the fact that they had been doing fiber arts for over four years without telling anyone. Grandfather words were
"if i had known i wouldn't let you blow money all the time on 'tough' clothes!" and tat was the end of it.
three weeks later
i start school today... Edvige said it was a god school, that he attended it as a child. it was in a overly nice art of town, where nothing bad ever seems to happen... it's fakely real in my eyes.
as we drove up, i noticed something... a cross perched on top of the school.
"Christian school?" i question Edvige, i'm not a big believer in anything really, i'm not mad about it, i just thought they should have told me.
"well, you can already tell that we're not really close followers, but... i think it would be a good thing for you to learn about. don't gotta believe, but i find learning about religion is a healing thing in itself." Edvige confessed.
"okay, i'll see you later i guess." i smile, giving him a hug before stepping outta the car. walking in, i see that i am the only girl wearing pants, not only hat i'm the only one not wearing a pastel shirt. i was wearing a grey flannel over a navy blue shirt, and light wash skinny jeans. i had the blonde hair and blue eyes like everyone else, and then i noticed this school was painfully Caucasian, i don't think i saw a single face of color, which was very weird. were in San Diego, a city with rich Mexican heritage, that most of my friends had taught me about when was on the streets, (most of the friends that weren't on the street in the first place)
i walk through the school, and feel people stare at my attire, going to the office i tell them that i'm in a tutoring program.
"i'm sorry darling, but due to shifting funding, we have put you with the rest of the freshmen." the perfectly perky receptions said. i crinkled my brow
"shifting to where?" ask, perplexed that they would take needed education away from someone like that.
"it's been shifted to the AP classes now." she spoke, her overly plump lips causing her words to slur a bit.
i huff a little
"how can you take schooling away from someone who doesn't even know how to read properly, and put it to people who already know their college maths!" i question, she looks at me funny.
"well.. if tats the case we can transfer you to special education..." she says carefully. i huff again.
"no, ya know what? whatever!" i state as she hands me my schedule. i walk off to my first class and sit down in the seat i front so i can hear properly... it's English... as more students come in the class begins.
"hello everyone an- oh, i see a new face!" the older woman says with smile, before looking over her sheet.
"i... don't see your name darling..." she says with a confused expression. a few laughs from the back.
"i wasn't supposd to be in this class origionally." i tell her, keeping my eye focused forwards.
"what class then? i'll get you onto here." she chirps.
"um... Mr. Bouser..." i mutter, not knowing who knew he was a tutor.
"...oh... okay then... well, can you tell me your name so i can put it on the sheet.
"Taylor." say.
"and your last name?" she questioned
"i-i don't... have one..." i say slowly, causing everyone to stop.
"or, if i do, i don't know it." i add.
"well, Taylor i look forward to learning more about you." she said happily, before starting the lesson, i took as good as notes as i could, and i had actually written the letter key on my arm before school started.
once english was over i walked down the halls trying to find my next class when i ran into someone, causing me to fall down.
""short round!!!" a familiar voice exclaimed. looking up i saw the smiling face of Tony!
"hey!" i exclaim, taking his hand to help me up.
"wow, you look good!" he smiled, noticing that i had in fact put on wight and was wearing different clothes then the ratty garments he was used to seeing me in.
"yeah... a lot of things have happened..." i chuckled nervously before remembering.
"hey can you help me find my science class?" he ask, showing him my paper.
"oooh, you got Mr. Stein, that's rough. i was in his class as a freshman. well, you just go down this hall and third door on the left." he said with a smile.
"thanks Ton," i smile.
"of course Tay!" he says back, before walking away with a bit more pep in his step.
i walked to my next class and sighed, i'm already thinking what the teachers gonna say, the same routine as in English. "what's your name?" "Taylor, no last name" then again, i wonder what Edvige put down on papers for me.
