Concerned, her mother went to see what was wrong. As she walked across the pub once more a mirror fell, clattering to the floor.

"Stay away," she heard a deep growl.

Looking around the pub, no one spoke.

"Leave Mia alone," the same voice echoed. "We witnessed her try to converse with a woman to tell her about her husband and ruin our purpose."

"She never," the mother replied. "We made sure she didn't."

The whole pub suddenly went dark, as the only light in the room made a tunnel between her and her daughter. "We know how important it is not for her to tell anyone what people like her can do."

"Which is," the being wanted to remind her, "because of her disability, she is able to see us. A lot of people think children can see us. They can in their infant years, but at your daughter's age, she can only see us due to her being deaf and mute."

"Don't you think I know that?" the mother asked, walking towards the window. Within touching distance of her daughter, she reached out her arm to touch Mia, but was prevented by something.

"Don't try to get her from us. There's an invisible field between the two of you."

"Why do you have to punish her?"

"She has to realise..."

"Can't you leave her alone. Why do you think she is the way she is?"

"I know why she has the disability. In her infant years she tried to enter our world to see what it was like. We had to punish her. The only way not for her inform anyone what she witnessed was to make her the way she is. We know she pretends to communicate with you as she is ashamed of her disability, and doesn't want anyone knowing."

"But why..?" her mother begun, not listening to what was being said.

"We have to teach her not to interfere with things she has no idea how to control."

Looking at the being stood over her, Mia tried to read the visitor's lips, but they did not move and she was only able to read her mother's side of the conversation.

"We have to take her now," the being said. "We have to teach her once more that she cannot help anyone in this world. In fact, she cannot help anyone in either world."

"You can't," her mother begun to cry.

The being nodded slowly as he bent to collect the scythe. "We can do what we want. You probably don't realise this, but we control everything what happens in this world. You lot don't think destiny exists, but you are wrong. If you took time to think about it, destiny affects all your lives. Who do you think decides what happens when it does?" As it held the scythe, it pushed the bottom of it down to touch Mia.

Screaming, Mia watched it start to disappear into her body. She tried to reach out her hands to prevent it, but as she touched the wood, her hand went through it as if it was not there.

As the handle disappeared into her daughter, the mother was only able to watch the metal axe near her body. Seeing Mia'a reflection in the metal, she screamed and tried to reach for her daughter, but was prevented by the field which separated them.

Just the axe visible, Mia's mother was only able to watch it fall flat through her daughter.

With the metal of the axe meeting the wood of the floor, her daughter vanished.

Her mother knelt to try and touch the axe. No 'field' prevented her and the tunnel of light disappeared as she touched it, before witnessing the axe disappear.

"No!" she cried, stepping to where her daughter had just lain. "No!" she screamed as she twirled a full circle and saw her husband leaving the bar to see what the matter was.

With him walking towards her, she begun to cry.

By her, the husband looked at the floor, then his wife.
