"Are you sure this is a good idea?" My mum looked incredibly nervous as she helped me load my bags into the car.
"I mean, on your own?" She continued, "do you not think you should wait a bit until you've finished uni? Or go with a group of friends?"

I bit my lip and closed my eyes momentarily, convincing my mum to let me go traveling has been a battle from the very beginning.
"Mum, I've been before and I'm a big girl, I can handle it"
To my surprise, my dad got out of the car and came to my defence.

"Leave her alone Sarah, she's an adult, she can make her own choices"

My mum made a guttural noise in the back of her throat, but luckily for me, chose to say no more on the topic.

I looked up at the flat that had been my house for the last year. I felt rather shitty about taking off without saying goodbye, but I don't think I'll be a massive loss to the remaining three habitants of the house anyway.

"Ready to go?" My Dad asked me with a small smile.

I had another last look around before heaving a great sigh and getting in the car.

The rain started to fall slowly as we pulled away from the curb. Great, now I'm in a cheesy rom-com. Unfortunately for me though, I know the love of my life isn't going to come racing after me to the airport and stop me boarding my plane. He's the one I'm flying to.

My phone rang, stopping me from my sullen glaring out of the window.

To my surprise, it was my step-brother.

"Hey Lou" I greeted, trying not to sound as fed up as I felt.

"Hey Han, little birdie told me that you need a place to stay in LA?" He replied. Damn, who told him I was going to LA? I glared daggers at the back of mums head as I continued my conversation.

"Erm, I think I'm just gonna get a hotel" I told him nervously.

"Don't be stupid, that'll cost a fortune" Louis shouted out. "Come stay with me?"

"Aw Lou that's really nice of you but I couldn't do that..." I began, only for my brother to cut me off.

"Don't be stupid, I have an insanely big apartment and I'm rarely in it! Ring me when you get here okay bye" and he hung up the phone before I could protest further.

"Louis?" My Dad asked gently. Until very recently, my dad and Louis didn't have any form of relationship, but when Lou's life changed for the better and his band took off, i managed to convince him to give our Dad a chance to make up for lost time. I'm not going to sit here and make excuses for Dad, he really messed up when Lou was born but any fool can see he deeply regrets it, and he's trying so hard to make up for it.

"Yeah" I answered his question. "He's offered to let me stay in his apartment."

"Aw that's nice of him" my mum countered, she's always loved Lou, they were super close when the band first formed, he practically lived with us and she acted as a second mum to not only him but the rest of his band too.

I took my phone out of my pocket and quickly opened the Twitter app, posting a photo of my tickets with the caption "All ready to jet to L.A for some quality time with my big bro @Louis_Tomlinson"

I closed the app and propped my jacket up against the car window, and before I knew it I'd drifted off to sleep....

I giggled at the boy sitting opposite me, exposing the braces I always tried so hard to keep hidden.
