I rolled over to snuggle into the boy lying next to me, only to discover nothing but empty sheets.

I felt a wave of sadness but quickly suppressed it, it's better this way.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was 11:15. No wonder he's already up.

I quickly got up and threw on some joggers and a jumper and began to search around for my notebook and pencil. The boys are counting on me to write them some songs so I better get to work.

Nearly 2 hours later and I was more frustrated than I've ever been in my whole life. I slung my pencil down on top of the piano in anger. Why can't I do this?

I was just about to give up and go dive back into bed when the living room door opened and Niall walked in with his guitar.

"Need some help?" He offered with a smile.

"Thanks Ni, but I got nothing. Everything I think of is just depressing and downbeat" I groaned, running my fingers through my limp hair.

Niall swivelled his baseball cap around to face the back of his head and thought for a second.

"You know, I think that's just what we need. We're older now, and yeah we still have to appeal to our fans but the music has to reflect us lads and how we feel, and I think a nice moody ballad is just what we need. The best music comes from raw emotion, so work with it, even if it does result in a sad song"

I thought about his words for a second. Is that my problem? Am I not getting my emotions out properly?

"Tell you what, I'll play a random tune on my guitar, you try and match me with the piano and we'll work from there. Just sing out any lyrics that come to mind and any that we like, we'll write down?"

We worked on this for a few hours and eventually it was Niall who gave me the inspiration for Nobody Compares.

In this time, I plucked up the courage to ask him about what was going on with Es, and he told me how things were weird between them, she'd been off and not as in to him as she was at the start, and hence Nobody Compares was born.

By the end of it, there was a couple of little things I wanted to tweak but I was relatively happy with the outcome. Niall looked pleased but a little crestfallen.

"Niall, you just gotta talk to her man" I told him gently.

"I can't, we agreed that it was just casual and there wouldn't be any feelings involved" he sighed and threw himself down on the sofa.

"You can't help how you feel Niall"

Our discussion was cut short by Harry running in looking slightly flustered.

"Seen Lou?" He asked us both, scanning the room himself to check.

"Nope, just us two" I told him brightly.

"Shit! Okay, Niall our visitor is here, Han you gotta stay in here"

I frowned in confusion. Visitor? Why do I have to stay here.

Niall jumped up straight away looking like he'd seen a ghost.

"Liam ready?" He asked Harry, slipping his shoes back on.

"Yeah we're all ready to go, just gotta find Lou" and they both left the living room in a hurry, leaving me baffled at their absence. What is going on?
