A friend told me how he fell in love but his love was short lived... just like his lover.

This is a true story (not all of it because I couldn't get all of the details)

**4 years ago (7th grade)**

**Nate's P.O.V**

I saw Bradley standing there. He was talking to Gaby, aka the girl he likes. Yesterday he told me he was going to ask her out, but I know my best friend too well to know he wasn't actually going to go through with it. He'll chicken out and, most likely, he'll ask me to ask her out for him.

I watched them from afar for a few minutes, but eventually got bored and started off towards the locker rooms. Bradley and I were on our middle school football team so we had mandatory practices everyday after school.

A few other guys were already in the locker room when I arrived. Mason, an 8th grader, glanced at me and smiled. I consider Mason to be one of my closer friends; mostly because he's the only person who knows my secret.

There's no way for me to know when Mason figured it out, or how he did and before I even did, but he knows it. I forced him to promise not to tell a soul and he agreed as long as I don't tell anyone his.

You see, Mason and I are both gay and we don't want anyone else to know. He only confronted me about it because he knew I was, and he knew he was, and he wanted to experiment a little, so we did. Mason Cobb was my first kiss and also the first person to give me a hand job. I didn't want him to go that far, but he insisted.

"Nathan Taylor Buice get your ugly self over here!" Mason called once most of the other guys had made their way out.

A smile erupted on my face as I walked over to Mason. He held me by my shoulders, glanced around to make sure no one was looking, and placed a small gentle kiss on my lips. "Hi."

"Hey." He took a step back to make some pace between us.

"We better head down to the field before people start to wonder where we are." I smiled again as we walked down to the fields.

Mason always made me smile like a fool. I don't know what it is about him, I just feel like he can make my worst days amazing, but also make my amazing days worse.

He has a girlfriend, Alexa. His reasoning for getting her was that so no one got curious about us, not that anyone would anyway. We're middle schoolers. No middle schooler in their right mind would be suspecting two guys of being in a relationship. I bet some kids don't even understand the concept of homosexuality.

I saw Bradley walk down the big hill that led to the field with Braden, he prefers to go by his last name, Boss.

They smiled and split up when they finally reached the field. Boss went over to Baylor and Ryan while Bradley came over to Mason and me.

"Hey guys." He smiled and the sight of his smile just made me melt. As much as I tell myself and as much as I refuse to believe it, I know I'm falling for my best friend, falling hard.

Mason rolled his eyes at me. I bet he noticed me staring at Bradley. "Hey dude. I saw you talking to Gaby during lunch." He wiggled his eyebrows at him and play punched his shoulder.

"Yeah." A small blush creeped into his cheeks. "I asked her out, Nate." His blush got even deeper as he glanced over at me.

"What'd she say?" He paused for a second and looked down at the ground.

"No." Even though I thought it wasn't humanly possible, Bradley's blush turned an even deeper shade of red. "She has a boyfriend. He's a freshman at Pebble Brook."
