Nobody's Business (BOOK ONE)

Chapter 39

Monica sits in the bathroom stall feeling sorry for herself. Not only do her parents have her on lockdown but Sevyn has been too busy with school, babysitting, volleyball and Jackson to really spend time with her. She desperately needs a sleepover but it seems as though Sevyn is too busy to even plan one with her. They still talk and catch up with each other but Monica is so busy wallowing in her own sadness that she feels like there's distance between them.

And on top of all that, she got her period this morning. She felt weird during her first class so she asked to used the bathroom. Once she got into a stall and saw what happened she just wanted to curl up on the floor. And the funky smell of the bathroom is making her sick to her stomach. She texted Sevyn a few minutes ago and is waiting for her to show up. For now, she rest her head on the cool metal divider and closes her eyes, hoping for a few minutes of rest.

The silence doesn't last long before the door squeaks open and two voices come into the bathroom. She sighs as they loudly conversate.

"I'm just sayin she's a little hoe hoe." One voice says.

"How?" Asks the other one.

"Cuz she just dumped Keenan two weeks ago and now she's dating Jackson? Somethin don't sound right, there's no way she could bounce back that quickly. Especially after how long her and Keenan were together." Voice one says. Monica furrows her eyebrows as she listens to them talk.

"Well he did cheat on her." Voice two stresses.

The other girl sucks her teeth, "So what? Boys cheat all the time, these emotional bitches need to get over it. I even heard she claimed that Keenan raped her. That's why we don't see him around school no more."

"For real? I don't believe that."

"Mhm, but even if he did rape her she deserved it." The girl replies. The second girls gasp and it sounds like she smacked her arm. "Ouch, whatchu hittin me for Ashlee? You know it's true. You saw what she was wearing to Macy's party, she looked like a skank. She was practically asking to be raped."

"Now you know that ain't even right Toya." Ashlee replies.

"I'm just bein honest. Sevyn is---" Toya is cut of by the door opening. Another girl walks in and the other two suddenly get quiet.

"Monica?" Sevyn's voice calls out.

"I'm right here." Monica kicks the door and Sevyn walks over before handing her a pad under the door. Ashlee and Toya giggle under their breath and the anger bubbling inside of Monica over flows. She quickly does her business before walking out the stall and storming over to the sinks. She washes her hands then whirls around to glare at Toya and Ashlee.

"You got anymore shit to talk?" She asks them. "Cuz my girl is right here so if you got something to say now's the time."

Toya looks her up and down, playing with her big gold hoop earring. "Nah we good."

"You sure? Cuz I got no problem punching you both in your mouths." Monica places a hand on her hip ready to pop both of them.

Toya rolls her eyes, "Nah, I'm sure you're gonna tell her everything anyway. Aren't you sidekick?" She tosses her an evil smirk as she walks pass her.

Sevyn watches as the two girls exit the bathroom then turns back to Monica, "What was all that about?"

"They were talking about you before you came in, calling you out your name and stuff. They even brought up what happened at Macy's party." Monica explains with a bitter voice.

Sevyn's face blanches, "How do they know about that? No ones supposed to know and I damn sure haven't been gossiping about it."

"Well someone apparently has. You better start popping these girls before I do." Monica says, turning to smooth down her hair in the mirror.
