Chapter 1

10 years later

Bonnie's P.O.V

I wake up to see my wonderful husband sleeping peacefully next to me. I lie there tracing the outline of his face with my finger. "You know it's rude to stare babe." Kol says sleepily opening one eye slowly. I blush. "I didn't know you were awake." I admit still blushing. "Well don't stop on my account. I'll just go back sleep and you can carry on if you wish or we could get up and open up the shop. So what's your choice babe?" Kol says quietly. I wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head on his chest. "We need to open the shop today. We have customers expecting us to be in today so they can pick things up and we have deliveries." I admit reluctantly. Kol sighs. "Oh Bon. Wrong answer. I really wanted you to say lets stay here." I nod my head in acknowledgement getting out of the bed. "How about this we keep the shop open until 2 p.m, then we come back here, have a drink, and come back up here. Deal?" I say and Kol's eyes light up slightly. "Okay. Deal. Now come here please." Kol says holding his arms open for me to walk over to him. So I do. I wrap my arms around his waist and bury my head in his chest one again. Then my phone starts to ring so I pull back and pick it up off the bedside table. I open it to see a number that I haven't seen in 10 years give or take. Stefan Salvatore's number. It must be important for Stefan to call me. So I open the phone and answer. "Hello?" I ask. "Hey Bon. It's Stefan." He says. Kol growls so I glare at him until he shuts up. "What's up Stefan?" I ask concerned. "It's Caroline." He says solemnly. "W-what what wrong with Care?" I ask panicking slightly. "She's turned it off." No. "No. No way. Caroline wouldn't do something like that. Caroline wouldn't turn it off. Wh-Why did she do it?" I ask. I feel Kol wrap his arms around me and pull me towards the window chair. "Liz died. She had a really rare form of cancer that vampire blood can't heal and when she died Caroline turned it off with no second thoughts she just flipped the switch. But that isn't the only thing Bonnie." He says and now I am really worried. "What else could there be?" I ask. "She's coming to New Orleans. This is more of a warning for Elena and Klaus. She is hell bent on getting Klaus back. You need to tell Klaus and Elena and make her turn her humanity on no matter what. Please Bonnie. I need you to do this for me. I need Caroline back. Damon left with Enzo. He's flipped the switch to along with Enzo. Caroline is the only thing I have left. So Bonnie please make her turn it back on. Please." He says desperately. "I will Stefan. I promise. I will send her back to you with her humanity. Bye Stefan." I say on the verge of tears. "Bye Bonnie. Keep me updated." He says before the phone beeps indicating the call being ended.

I stand up and gesture for Kol to do the same. I rush to the closet and use vamp speed to dress myself. Kol does the same. I head towards the door with Kol holding my hand and we vamp speed to Lena and Nik's bedroom. I bang violently on the door after hearing Elena giggle. The door opens to reaveal a topless Nik and, thankfully, a fully dressed Lena. She must have seen the look of concern on my face because she asks, "Bonnie. What's wrong?" I sigh and decide to be blunt. "Liz died." She gasps and raises her hand towards her mouth as tears form in the corners of her eyes. Kol wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me towards his chest and Nik does the same for Elena. "After Liz died. Care. She. Sh-she turned it off." Elena has full out tears streaming down her face now.

Elena's P.O.V

I sink to the floor even though Nik's arms are around my waist. I raise my head to look at Bonnie's face. "What aren't you telling me Bon and how did you find this out?" She looks really guilty now. "Stefan called and told me about Care and asked me to get her humanity back anyway necessary. He said. Damon and Enzo have flipped the switch and left Mystic Falls a while ago and he also said to warn you and Nik about Caroline." I say. "Warn us about what?" Nik asks. "He said... He said that." She can't say it. God what did Stefan say that could be that bad? "He said Caroline is hell bent on being with you big brother and Stefan said that we needed to warn you." Kol says seeing that Bonnie can't say it. And as if to emphasise what Kol said I hear a door bang open downstairs and Caroline walks in. Suddenly, she is stood next to Bonnie. There is blood smeared all over her face. Oh. My. God. "Oh how perfect. Bonnie. Elena. Kol and Klaus. Just who I needed to see. Well really I only needed to see Elena and Klaus but I guess two more people won't make a difference." She says walking into the room. Suddenly, Bonnie and Kol have one arm each and are dragging her downstairs and into the living room. Nik and I speed down there to see Bonnie and Kol tying her to a chair. "Lena. Go get Bekah, Elijah, Marcel and Hayley." Bonnie says. I nod numbly before speeding to Elijah and Hayley's room. I bang my fist on the door. "Elijah. Hayley. Open the bloody door. Stop whetever the hell it is you're doing and open bloody up!" The door swings open to reveal a very concerned Hayley. "Lena? What's wrong? Are you okay?" Hayley asks as Elijah appears behind her. "Yes. No. I'm not sure but you both need to go to the living area now. Nik will explain once you're down there." I say quickly. Elijah gives me a quick nod and grabs Hayley's hand as I walk towards Bekah and Marcel's room. I hear Bekah giggling and decide to be harsh. I smash my fist against the door. "Oi. Bekah. Marcel. Stop having sex and open this bloody door!" I yell. I immediately hear Bekah running towards the door followed by Marcel. The door swings open. "What's wrong Lena? You'd only be that blunt if something was wrong." She says and I nod my head in acknowledgement. "I know Beks. Come on. Nik will explain. We need to go to the living room right now." I say before turning on my heel and rushing down the stairs. I walk into the living room to find Bon and Kol but no Nik. "Hey Kol. Where's Nik?" I ask. I don't ask Bon because she's too busy giving Caroline an aneurysm. "In the woods Ellie. He said something along the lines of... send Lena outside to me when she gets back down here before walking out the door." He says giving me a thumbs up proud of himself for remembering all of that causing Bon and I too laugh. "Thanks Bro." I say before leaving to find Nik. I was half way into the woods when I decided to start shouting. "NIK! HEY NIK WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU? I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOU FOR OVER 15 MINUTES!" I yell knowing he will hear me. No answer. But I can hear rocks landing in water a little bit away. The waterfall. Nik wouldn't be able to hear me over the waterfall. I speed back to the house before going to Nik. Bonnie looks surprised to see me. "Where's Nik Ellie?" Kol asks. "He's at the waterfall. I came to ask. Can you guys do this without us? I was thinking of taking some swim clothes and towels to the waterfall for a stress relief sort of thing." I say and Kol nods his head in acknowledgement. "Sure Ellie. We got this. Plus we have Bekah, Lijah, Hayley and Marcel helping us. So go ahead." Kol says smiling. "Thanks bro. See ya later dude." I say causing us all laugh. "You're welcome dude." Kol says and we all laugh harder before I speed about 50 feet away from the waterfall where Nik is still skipping rocks. I slowly walk over to my husband. "Nik." I say quietly. He turns around and relief floods his face. "Lena." He says equally as quiet before pulling me into a hug. I drop the things so I could wrap my arms around him. I bury my face in his neck. "I bought some swimwear and towels so we could have a bit of time to ourselves while Kol, Bonnie and everyone else deals with Caroline." I say smiling at him. He smiles back at me. A genuine Niklaus Mikaelson smile that only I get to see. I hand him his swim trunks and pull out my bikini making him grin at me. I blush. He rips off his clothing and pulls the trunks on. I use vamp speed to change my outfit. When I am dressed I walk up to Nik and wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned in for a kiss. We both leaned into the kiss. I licked his bottom lip asking for entrance which he happily granted. Our tongues wrestled for dominance and Nik won. I wrapped my legs around his waist pushing him into the tree. His arms went around my waist pulling me even closer. I pulled back and rested my head against against his. "Do you want to go in the water now?" I ask quietly. He nods gently. I hop down and grab his hand pulling him towards the water. We slip into the water and continue our very heated make-out session. Soon clothes are lost and lets just say it went a little bit further than just kissing.
