Leah POV.

Roy Mustang had his feet on his desk, looking at me silently. He broke his gaze off and turned to Allie. Then looked back at me.

"So... you want to research the philosopher's stone?" Roy asked me. I nodded. "You know that another alchemist, about a year older than you is researching the same stone?" He asked me. I shook my head confused.I signed to Allie, asking her to ask about the details.

"What else?Tell us more." Allie said looking at me, to check if I needed anymore translation but turned to Roy to read his lips.

"The Full Metal Alchemist. He was the youngest Alchemist, up until you showed up today. His name is Edward Elric, blonde hair and short, oh don't tell him I told you." Roy stopped for a moment thinking. "Oh, and his brother is a...in a suit of armor, his name is Alphonse."

I nodded, the information stored in the back of my head. Perhaps meeting them will do me good for my research.

"We'll budget you..but we want all result and information you have to give. Or else you'll be put on some other duty and won't have time to see the light of day, am I clear?" Roy said. I smirked and nodded. Roy took an envelope from his desk and handed my a pocket watch that makes me a state alchemist and the envelope. "You know what that pocket watch does, and that is your Military Name... I DO Believe it suits you." He said with a smirk. I opened it and smiled.

I showed it to Allie. She smiled and nodded signing the same. 'It does.' I took the watch and put it in my coat's pocket.

"Full Metal hates being called Short, just as you hate being called Quiet and a Child." Roy said, waving me off. I stood up and was at the door when Roy called back. "Why so quiet?" I growled and threw him a hand sign he could easily understand, I mean, it was only a finger.

~1 Week Later~

I ran through the desert happily, my short black hair bobbed around slightly. I jumped headfirst down the sand dune,and rolled down as if it were a mountain. I giggled silently as I rolled around and around and around. When I went to the bottom I laughed outloud silently. The sand went into my mouth and I coughed and coughed, some blood came from my mouth. Allie came running behind me. She ran past me. I cant let her beat me! I ran after her, my light blue cloak breezed in the wind.

Allie slowly stopped and fell headfirst into the sand. She spit out the sand and coughed with a smile. I jogged in place next to her with a grin. I heard a yell of frustration up ahead. I gasped. HUMANS! I ran towards the sound, ignoring the protesting yell of Allie. As I made my way over to the sound I saw a blonde boy, looking one year older than me, and about the same height as me chasing after a suit of armor.That must be him!

I smiled evily, deciding just to mess with Ed and Alphonse. I ran down the hill and tackled Alphonse down. He fell to the floor with an oomph. I pointed to Al and signed 'FMA'. But Allie was at the top of the dune, yelling for me. I motioned for her to come down and translate.

"Hey! Get off of him!" Edward said. I pointed at Ed and made my hands move closer to eachother as if to say 'small'. He grew an irkmark as he realized what I was talking about.

"E-excuse me, if you could please get off of me.." Alphonse said. I smiled and jumped off of him. Then pointed to Edward. Allie finally got down from the dune, sliding down, she dusted herself off.

'He' the FullMetal, but I want to play around with him.' I signed while mouthing.

"No, that isn't nice." Allie said, she's 16 now, I'm 14. I did a puppy dog face while pleading she shook her head NO. I sighed and took out my Pocket Watch and showed it to Edward. He looked at it for a second then something clicked. He statched it from my hands and looked at it.

"Where did you get this?" He asked me. I hissed at him and reached for it, but he was slightly taller than me. "Say something you kid." I froze. Did he just call me a kid..? I headbutted him really hard. He fell back, and I grabbed my watch from him. I hand signed really quickly and angrily. Allie looked at my hands and stumbled with the translation. In the end she just sighed.

"Uh, in short, she said, its hers, if you ever touch it again you'll be...and she is not a kid, just like you aren't short..." Allie said trying to fix the fighting. I glared at the sand under my feet. THAT IS NOT WHAT I SAID.

"It's hers?" Alphonse said. I nodded, but Since Alphonse doesn't have a mouth, Allie couldn't hear him.

I poked Allie and signed her to tell them that we are deaf and mute, so they won't make stupid questions. Allie Sighed.

"This is the Deathly Silent Alchemist, and the name doesn't mean that she's quiet all the time. Leah's just mute. And I'm Allie, I'm deaf." Allie said with a small bow.

"Eh?! How is she deaf and translating?" Al stated. I signed to Allie.

'Alphonse just asked how you're deaf and translating, you know the answer.'I signed to her. She frowned, probably wishing she could read Alphonse's lips.

"I'm her best friend and know her better than anyone, plus, she wouldn't have it any other way." Allie replied which I made a heavy nod and a grin.

"So, you're the Deathly Silent Alchemist! Roy told me about you a week ago..." Edward said putting his hand to his mouth in a thinking motion. "He said you were looking for the philosopher's stone too, why?" He asked. I signed my answer.

"Same reason as you." Allie said with a shrug. I nodded.

"What?" Alphonse said. I jumped up and kicked his helmet off. It landed to the ground with a thud. I pushed Alphonse to the ground before he had time to react. I peered inside of his suit to see, as I expected. NOTHING. I smiled triumphantly.

'I knew it!' I signed to Allie, doing a quick fistpump. 'I tried to bring back Scruffy, but they did something that required more of a payment, even when it didn't work!' I signed, she was about to say it outloud but I clamped my hand over her mouth. I got off of Alphonse and dusted myself off. I wanted to ask them myself.

I pointed at both of them, wanting to play a game of charades. I made a cutting gesture to my neck, tilting it to the side, then lay on the floor. Then stood up, clapped my hands and put it near the floor.

"Yeah...how did you know..?" Alphonse asked.

I pointed to myself with my thumb nodding, my face alittle guilty.

"You did human transmutation too?!" Edward yelled. I nodded again.

"Really? Did it work?" Alphonse asked me. I looked down at the ground and shook my head no.

"You look fine...what did you lose to equivalent exchange...?" Edward asked.

"Brother! You can't ask questions like that! That isn't nice!" Alphonse scolded. I shrugged and pointed to my throat.

"Your voice..?" Edward said confused. "Then you must have transmuted something small.." He said. I shook my head, putting my hands in front of me like a dog, or cat, then mouthed woof."A Dog? Why would you want to bring a dog back to life?! Its just a dog!" Ed yelled. I frowned and poked him in the stomach hard. I showed him my teeth, and stomped off. I could hear Allie apologizing while I walked towards the town.
