Chapter 2-
So cliche!
Mackenzie couldn't help but think how badly Elsa Barns needed a makeover. Her huge square glasses did her bright green eyes no favours and her tight bun made her shiny black hair look greasy. She could be pretty, Mackenzie thought, her olive skin contrasted well with her dark hair and green eyes but the bottom line was, she wasn't. It was pretty obvious Elsa Barns was your typical school nerd and Mackenzie was stuck with her as her guide. She silently cursed the principal whilst painting on a huge smile. "Elsa if you show Mackenzie to her locker and stay with her until the bell goes, I'm sure you two will be great friends," the principal stated whilst holding the door to his office open. Great friends? Mackenzie couldn't help but roll her eyes, as if!
"There are lots of extra curricular activities we could sign up for together. I was thinking chess club?" Elsa asked enthusiastically. Mackenzie wanted the ground to swallow her up. She knew what Maddie would do. She would come up with some super great excuse that wouldn't hurt Elsa's feelings but would get rid of her quicker than a flash. If only Mackenzie knew what that super great excuse was. She was no Maddie. She lacked her confidence and quick come backs. Mackenzie was balancing out her options. She could tell her she didn't like her and get rid of her but she would hurt her feelings and lose the only friends she had so far. Or she could play along and be stuck with her and fall even further down on the social ladder than she already was. Both options had outcomes she didn't like. That's when Mackenzie saw them. Three of them with flawless skin, perfect hair and the latest designer handbags strutting down the hallway. "Who are they?" Mackenzie blurted out interrupting poor blabbering Elsa. Elsa stopped mid sentence but didn't seem too bothered about being interrupted. Mackenzie figured she was used to it. "Oh them? They are only the three most perfect popular girls you will ever meet. The blonde in the middle is Casey, the brunette on her right is Jasmin and the red head is Taylor," Elsa stated, "you never want to get on their bad side." They reminded Mackenzie of Maddie. The confidence just oozed out of them but something was different. There was something almost evil about those three girls and Mackenzie didn't want to find out.
"Excuse me." A harsh yet pretty voice snapped Mackenzie out of her thoughts. "My homework?" the voice added. Mackenzie turned around and came face to face with the 'three most perfect popular girls.' Only then did she realise they were not talking to her but talking to Elsa. Surprise, surprise, how come the popular girls are never really smart? Mackenzie thought to herself. Getting the school nerd to do your homework was smart but so cliche. Up close the three girls still lacked flaws. Casey appeared to be the leader of the group, her long blonde hair reminded her of her old friend Chloe Lukasiak yet with more volume and Caseys was painfully obviously died, her skin was flawless and pale but it suited her. It was her eyes that got to Mackenzie, big and green, just like a cat. Jasmin had lovely tanned skin and huge chocolate brown eyes which fit nicely with her chesnut hair. Taylor seemed to be a little on edge, her red hair was a rare but beautiful colour and had to be natural, she also had bright blue eyes and soft facial features. In Mackenzie's opinion the only one who didn't look intimidating was Taylor."So you're the new kid?" Caseys attention turned towards Mackenzie as Elsa searched her locker for the homework. Mackenzie nodded, she felt like jelly. She wished she was cool and collected like Maddie. "You are way too pretty to be hanging out with this loser! Right girls?" Casey continued, not batting an eyelid at the fact that Elsa was standing right there. Jasmin and Taylor nodded simultaneously reminding Mackenzie of a scene from mean girls. "What do you think?" She asked Mackenzie directly. Mackenzie froze. She was in between a rock and a hard place. Hurt Elsa's feelings or get on the queen bees bad side. Mackenzie winced, sorry Elsa. Mackenzie nodded trying to look confident. "Then it's sorted, you will be one of us!" Casey grinned.
