"How dare you think an invalid like yourself could ever imagine an intimate relationship with a Prince!"

Prince Sidon stood tall over the small Hylian who was eyeing the ground in shame, his face hot with embarrassment. Of course it was a long shot to tell the Prince of his affections. The last thing the Prince wanted was to be with someone so unlike his kind, let alone marry one. Besides, he was fit to marry another female Zora anyway. Oh, was this all really for nothing?

"Look at me when I'm speaking to you. I am a prince after all!"

Link slowly lifted his head up to the Prince who was staring at him with distaste. "I am already suited to marry a Zora. What makes you think you can stumble in here and expect my feelings to pine towards you?"

"I just, thought-"

"You thought you could make a Prince swing one way when he was already in motion another way. Silly, silly little Hylian."

Link watched him smile sympathetically, his strong jaw clenched behind it. He motioned towards his guards, who then ushered him out of the room without another word.

As Link left, Sidon's eyes followed him, an untouched emotion while he was speaking to Link. One guard left standing saw this emotion and Sidon quickly shook free of it, growling at the guard to pay attention elsewhere.

--

The meeting with Sidon did not go near as well as he had hoped, and Link was almost in tears at how he treated him. Fighting his feelings for Sidon grew more impossible everyday that he visited the Zora's domain for selling and trading. His heart reeled for him; his gracious smile, his beautiful body, his charming personality - although none of that seemed too bright after that encounter.

Despite that, though, Link still pined for Sidon no matter what he said. He decided he would try again later that night, approach him in his room. It would be a brave attempt, and maybe it would sway the Zora Prince more. As he came to his bedroom door, Link heard another voice; it was feminine, and definitely his fiancee's. It only angered Link more, that he would be with someone else. That is what fueled him to knock on the door, and he heard Sidon shout, "Go away! I'm busy!"

Link, unable to take no for an answer at this point, pounded on the door once more, and again until he heard Sidon approach the door. He pulled it open, angrily, just enough so Link could see his waist and above, undressed. Link blushed but pushed the feeling aside and held his own,

"I understand you feel like you are destined to be with that Zora, but, please, Sidon, listen to me!"

Sidon growled, frustration beyond levels imaginable. "I don't know how you got to my room, but I don't care at this point. You need to leave!" Sidon's yellow eyes glared into Link's soul, and it made his heart swell. Link loved every aspect of this man, whether he should have or not. Whether it was his faith to his domain, or his strong, overbearing sense of duty, or whether it was his charming attitude towards everyone, or his powerful presence, Link loved this man. He had been so damn proud of him ever since they met.

Sidon moved out into the corridor, closing the door behind him so his fiancee would not hear. There was a long moment of silence as they stared at each other. Sidon was trying so damn hard not to melt in front of Link. Even though Sidon had built up this cold barrier between them, he did also ache for this small Hylian. But, for the good of his domain, he knew there was no way their relationship would be allowed. Link, a child in his eyes, had too much hope for this. Hope was all he needed to continue his assault, though. It was enough for him, and he prayed it was enough for the Prince. If only he fully understood the days Link spent in other villages, constantly thinking and praying of the day they would meet again! Oh, the expectations he had built up in his head were endless, but now the Prince was marrying; it was far too late in Sidon's eyes.

"I'm not leaving, Sidon. You have not seen the way I yearn for your touch, your affection, your warmth- I, I cannot breathe without you so much it hurts!" Link was in tears now and Sidon's eyes almost softened at the sight, but he continued his assault, whisper yelling through his clutched teeth, "And do you not see the relationship you would be destroying if I were to date an invalid as yourself? I have a reputation to hold, you know!" It was true, the zoras would very much disagree with the Prince falling for a small Hylian, especially one who lost Mipha all those years ago. He hears the people's distaste everyday; but what if that did not matter? It clearly was oblivious to Link, who's only care went to this large fish man.

As tears fell from Link's eyes, he continued to fight him, pounding his fists on his chest. He collapsed against Sidon, who did not respond but only to soften his emotions as the poor Hylian fell to Sidon. This Hylian pushed more for Sidon than anyone else ever would, and seeing him in this state caused his heart to churn and ache more than he thought possible. He had to marry within the next days and here was Link, begging for his mercy and undying love before he would seal his fate away to another. Woukld it even be possible to tie off things with his fiancee? And what of their relationship? Would it even stand?

He heard his fiancee call for him from inside at the same moment and he quickly pushed Link off of him. Before Link knew it, Sidon had gone back inside and slammed the door shut. Link pressed his body against the door in defeat and from the other side, Sidon leaned back against the door, staring at his fiancee who meant nothing close to how much Link meant to him in that moment.
