----------------Dana------------------

"NO MOM!" Omg the house was on fire my mom my tiny mansion! I flew in as my hawk trying to save her. I finally found her on the ground coughing through the smoke. I grasped her with my talons and heaved her out of the house just as the ambulance arrived I turned human again. My mom was not a shifter so there was no way she could have gotten out alive without me barely alive at least. I cried breaking down with fury as they hauled my mother into the ambulance. When they put out the fire and sped off to the hospital I shifted into a hawk and soared to the hospital.

When I finally arrived I sat in the waiting room for hours on end and saw all the elated families being reunited with the ones they love who were trapped in this building, injured. The thing that kept me there was the knowledge that I too soon will be reunited. I wish we hadn't gotten off on the wrong foot this morning.

Finally after being there all night the doctor came to me with a sad expression I thought he was going to the person behind me like always but when we made eye contact I knew something was up and whatever it was it was not something good.

"Dana Baker?"

"Yes, that's me." I said as a look of concern hit my face.

"Your mother is dead. I'm sorry for your loss." and with that he strolled away. No she can't be... she can't be dead. I sat there unable to move because of all the sadness surging through my veins...dead...it took a while for me to snap back to reality. No sisters. No brothers. No dad. Wait no dad. I'm an orphan. My mom was an only child so no aunts or uncles. My dad never had us meet his family so I know nothing about them and my grandparents? My grandpa died and my grandma lost her mind.

--------------One Hour Later-------------

"Dana?" I shivered as my name was spoken through the empty waiting room for the second time. I decided not to reply even though it didn't matter because she just continued anyway."Since you have no family that anyone knows-" she was forced silent by me running out the door. She didn't have to finish I knew she was going to say foster home. I was not going to a foster home. No way no how. I shifted into a hawk, my favorite form, and flew for days on end stopping occasionally for food or water with the money I had in my pocket originally. These few days were hard for me. In case you didn't know, hunters like to hunt hawks. And it was hawk season too. Eventually I turned into a wolf and made my trek on foot until I found the place I knew I would be safe and loved Freebell Acres.
