After Emily's soul lifted out of her body I dragged Dana after her dead body. They had Emily's body on an orange stretcher and at that point I wanted to see if Emily was around. I only let the spirits in that I sense good in and this was one of them I closed my eyes and concentrated on the souls of the deceased and when I opened my eyes I saw more souls in this hallway then there is people in Times Square. I stopped dead in my tracks.
"What?" Dana asked. So I quickly explained what I saw. Dana was visibly startled.
"What's wrong? Scared of ghosts?" I taunted. Dana just rolled her eyes. "There she is!" I saw Emily's ghost next to the stretcher and quickly ran over to her. She looked annoyed.
"Is she there?" Dana asked looking around like she was a worm in a room full of birds.
"Yes, stand here so I can talk to her without looking crazy." I pulled Dana to stand right behind Emily.
"Why aren't you worried or lost or whatever?" I asked Emily.
"Because this happens every time. I die in a game, my mom calls up Morganthe and bam! I'm back." Emily ranted.
"Who's Morganthe?"
"Our witch, DUH." Emily looked like I just offended her entire bloodline.
"Witches? Dana, lets go." I grabbed Dana's wrist and sprinted down the hall trying to avoid the wailing ghosts leeching on to me. I ran up the marble staircases and into the closet we usually go into.
"Are you ok?" Dana asked. With all this trouble I hardly noticed I was crying big, wet, snotty tears.
"Yeah y-eah. I'm fine." I stuttered wiping my face on my sleve.
"What's so bad about witches?" Dana asked completely dropping the snotty tear subject.
"Witches? What is so wrong about witches!" I exclaimed. "Witches are the reason my stepdad is dead! Witches are pure darkness and destruction." I turned away from Dana just in case she could see my tears in the dim light protruding through the cracks in the door.
"But witches are the reason I get to see Rookie in a new form."
"A wich did that?'' I asked. "This is bad. My stepdad worked with a witch and he got killed because of it."
"What? Like how?"
"The witch cast a spell or gave him a potion or something so that he would be more attractive to my mom but after a couple months he got horribly sick. Witches use this herb to give a potion a long lasting effect but to a mortal, it means long, painful death."
"But Rookie was a horse before. Technically he wasn't mortal right? Please tell me he wasn't." she begged. I knew that Rookie was mortal but my sister had been through enough.
"No, Rookie will be OK." I smoothly lied. Dana took a sigh of relief. "But none of us will live through this if we don't get out of here. Go find Heather, Rookie, and Sunny. I'll get stuff together then meet me back in this closet when your done." I opened the door and ran to my room. I found my bag I had packed just in case and I grabbed it. I found a bag of vegetables I saved from last nights dinner. I also found my purse that had some money and makeup. Unlike Dana I came here willingly so I had some stuff.
After I got my biggest suitcase and stuffed enough clothes for me and Dana, then left my room to meet Dana, Heather, Sunny, and Rookie in the foyer. They were all already there.
"Ok lets go." I said getting to the door and putting my hand on the handle.
"Wait what if were caught?" Heather questioned.
"We won't be. The games are still in progress, no one will be up here." I sighed trying to relieve all of us. I took one more deep breath and opened the door. My breath hitched in my troat and I suddenly felt sick, standing on the porch was none other than Chase Daniels.
"Hello sweetie." Chase purred. I just looked past him toward the open gate. "You want to go? So soon?"
"Yes." I heard Dana say from behind me.
"Oh, well I'd hate to see you go so soon, but I guess as long as you will be happy."
"Ok then we'll be on our way." I said sternly, taking a step forward but I was abruptly stopped by Chase.
"At least let me give you a going away present." Chase handed me a little red box with a golden bow. I took it without another word and glided toward the gate. Everyone else followed and we all piled into Sunny's car.
"Where to first?" Sunny asked.
"My house please." Heather said trembling slightly.
"OK Freebell acres here we come." Sunny tried to sound euphoric but it didn't work for Heather.
While we were driving the few hours back to Freebell, I opened the box. Inside there was a note that said
"You can run but I'm always watching and hunting you down...both of you.-Daddy" I leaned over to Dana and gave her the note. Her Face fell pale and she covered her mouth.
"Were in trouble." she mouthed.
"Deep trouble.'' I mouthed back, and we looked at the mansion that we could've died in get smaller and smaller in the distace.
