Reed and I were drinking our chocolate milks at the island in our kitchen. My mom set her elbows on the surface and rested her chin on her hands.

She looked at us intently, "So... are you guys ready to be starting your first day of second grade?" (Bet you didn't see that one coming)

I got really excited, "Yeah! I can't wait to show off my new Barbie book bag!"

Reed laughed, "Trust me, my Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles is much better than yours, by a long shot."

"Nuh uh!"

"Yeah huh."

"Nuh uh!"

"Yeah huh."

"Nuh-"

"I'm home!"

I jumped off my stool mid sentence and ran over to give my dad a hug. "Hi Dad!"

"Hey Hun!" My dad ruffled my hair and turned to my mom. Right after he turned around I stuck my tongue out at him and fixed my hair. Reed laughed a bit gaining my Dad's attention.

"What's up, Reed?"

"Nothing Mr. Winters."

"Spending the night?" My Dad asked.

Reed smiled, "Always, Mr. Winters."

There was a small pause before my mom spoke up, "Well, it's almost eight o'clock. You two better be getting to bed."

"Yes ma'am," Reed and I said at the same time.

"Ginx!" We both yelled and ran up stairs in a fit of giggles.

We got up to my room and I sat on my bed while Reed sat in his. We had our spare bed put in my room considering Reed was over so much. Neither one of us talked. We sat longer, waiting.

"Hunter? Reed?" My Dad opened the door a bit.

"FINALLY!" I yelled as I stood up.

"What? Why were you guys so quiet?"

Reed giggled, "It's the rules to ginxing. You can't talk until someone says your name."

"Oh." My Dad said trying to understand. "Well, I'm here to make sure you both brushed your teeth."

Reed and I looked at each other wide eyed. Immediately we both lied on our beds and pretended to sleep.

"Well, did you?"

"Sorry Mr Winters, we can't hear you. We're sleeping," Reed whispered.

I opened my eyes a crack to see my dad sneaking up on Reed, "Reed! Watch out!"

It was too late. Reed was laughing, "Okay! Fine! I'm awake! Don't tickle me an-any more!"

Reed was tearing up.

"Dad you'll kill him!" I yelled.

My dad stopped and laughed a little, "Go on brush your teeth."

I quickly grabbed Reeds hand and went to the bathroom.

Sooo? What do you think? Good? Bad? Go back to the hole where I came from? Yeah. I decided to continue this story because... why not. Vote, Comment, and see you next time!
