Prologue

I remember when my dad had to leave us to go back to the forces to fight
When he got the letter in the mail

I remember my mama being just as upset as she had been the first time he left

I remember when i began hearing another voice in their room a month later who would return twice more

I remember the voice being lighter than my daddy's

After some weeks my mama was sick and throwing up in the morning

I remember the day my sister and I found out my mama was pregnant it was two a half months after daddy left

My daddy cried when she surprised us with the news
We decided to video call him

I remember how happy he was when the doctors had told my mom we they having a boy and we called to tell him

I remember how anxious all of us were for him to be born and here with us

I remember when my mother had given birth to my little brother and how happy we were and how much we loved him but were upset because my father was still away

I remember when my daddy finally came home after being gone for a year and four months

And the little boy who mama decided to name Juniper Astaire McKamey was now five months old

He had been born without any complications but after getting a good look we saw that he had light brown skin, dark brown hair, and deep blue eyes

Clearly he wasn't my father's son
How surprised he was when he saw him for the first time
