7. Phoenix X Maya

Phoenix sat at his desk trying not to fall asleep. He had just finished quite the strange case and all he needed was some time off and some rest. Just then, the door burst open, and in came a happy little spirit medium.

"Hey Nick? Whaddaya say we go to our usual burger joint today?" Maya asked excitedly.

"Maya, can I please just get some rest? It's been a long day, and I'm just really tired."

"If you're tired then some burgers will definitely get you back into high spirits! So come on!" Phoenix sighs and reluctantly agrees to go along.

"Yeah sure. Maybe a few burgers won't hurt." Phoenix smiled.

"Yay!! Be ready in 5 minutes, okay Nick?"

"Yeah." Phoenix got up and straightened his hair and suit. He grabbed an umbrella from the rack and he was ready.

"Why do you need an umbrella?" Maya asked.

"The weather forecast said it was going to rain today. Thought I might bring it just in case."

"Come on, Nick! There's not a cloud in the sky! How could you possibly think it's going to rain?"

"Maya, you should know that when it's fairly clear, most of the time it definitely calls for rain!"

"Ugh! Whatever! You can bring it if you want, I doubt it's going to rain!"

"I'm telling you it IS going to rain." Phoenix sighs. "Well, let's get going." Phoenix walked out the door.

"Right behind you!" Maya followed close behind.

Phoenix and Maya walked over to their usual burger place and got themselves burgers. They sat down at a table and Maya dug in without a second thought, as usual. Phoenix just sat there and laughed.

"So, what kind of case were you dealing with?" Maya asked.

"Well, you know that traveling circus right? Berry Big Circus?" Phoenix asked. Maya nodded. "Well looks like they got into some trouble again. I had to cross examine their monkey, it was ridiculous!"

"Sounds fun!!" Maya giggled. Phoenix sighed.

"Yeah, but tiring." Maya giggled even more. Phoenix gave a warm smile. This was nice for him, not having to deal with anything stressful. Just eating burgers with Maya. Suddenly, as Phoenix predicted, it started to rain. Everyone was running around.

"Ahh! Nick, it's raining! You should have told me!"

"I did, but you wouldn't listen!" Phoenix's eyebrow twitched a bit.

"Aw man! How are we supposed to get back without an umbrella?!" Maya asked, trying to cover herself from the rain. Phoenix's eyebrow twitched again and he held up his umbrella. "Oh right, hehe!" Phoenix and Maya both got under the umbrella and started walking back to the office. Maya clung onto Phoenix on the way back.

"It looks like she's trying not to get wet. Hm.."  Phoenix handed the umbrella over to her. She looked up at him with wide eyes. "Here, you have it. I don't mind my suit getting wet." He smiled.

"You sure? I'd feel bad if you got wet."

"Just take it. I'll be fine, don't worry." Maya took the umbrella and continued walking. Phoenix then felt someone bump into him. It was Maya. She looked up at him, blushing.

"We'll share it. I don't want you to get wet." She said. Phoenix smiled.

"Oh Maya.." He held the umbrella, his hands placed over hers. They both blushed and looked away as they continued walking.

"Hey look! We're here!" Maya yelled, and sure enough right in front of them was the Wright and Co. Law Offices. "Last one there has to clean the toilet!" She ran off with the umbrella.

"H-hey! Maya!" Phoenix called. "Don't leave without me!" He laughed as he ran after her.

"Try to catch up! Nick!"
