This chapter is long overdue, but, as you know, life happens. But, I hope you enjoy, so here is the next chapter!
I was standing outside waiting for April to pick me up. I looked down at my attire, baggy sweatpants and a loose t-shirt. My hair was in a cute bun, thanks to Jamie and Maricia. But, there was no helping the clothes.
Not to mention the fact that my car needs to get fixed, all thanks to good old Mason. Note my sarcasm.
I told Chelsea we were going to the library, which she seemed to believe. I didn't want to go to this party and pretend I'd never been to one. I've been to some pretty wacky parties an have my fair share of nasty hang overs.
I've been drunk only a few times, but when I have been, it wasn't pretty.
The cold breeze was starting to make me shiver as I impatiently waited for April and her friend Lacey to appear.
Finally, after a few minutes, bright headlights came into view as my eyes were temporarily blind.
She rolled down the window as a girl in the passenger seat waved. I waved back, sliding into the car.
"Hey Candice, ready to party?" April asked as she kept her eyes on the road and her hands in the steering wheel.
"Good. I'm just a little nervous. You know I've never done anything like this before," I lied. In all honesty, I was pretty psyched for this.
"Don't be. Oh, and this is Lacey, my friend I was telling you about."
Lacey turned to face me from the passenger seat.
"Lacey O'Neil, nice to meet you," she said with vibrant grey eyes.
"Candice Swan," I responded.
"Like the Model?"
"Oh, uh, I guess," I replied hesitantly. She better be joking. "We look nothing alike though," I added. Hopefully she couldn't see through my tightly pulled back hair, brown eyes, and thick black rimmed glasses.
"Cool," Lacey said as she shuffled through her bag. "And this is to calm your nerves." She had pulled out a huge bottle of vodka. Oh god. I live for that stuff.
"Try it," she said, handing it to me.
"Oh, okay," I said as I brought the cold bottle to my lips. I poured a little down my throat. It burned for a second, but my fake expression over-exaggerated it.
"You like it?" April asked. "I usually don't drink, but one or two sips doesn't hurt."
"I think she likes it," Lacey smiled.
"Totally," I fake coughed. Hopefully it was realistic. I took another sip for extra measure.
"This party will be epic, just you wait," Lacey said.
"You might be nervous at first, but it'll get better once you-" April started.
"Surprise April! Surprise," Lacey interrupted.
"Oh, yes, I guess you'll have to wait."
"What are you guys saying?" I interjected.
"Wait and see," they said at the same time. I frowned, real nervousness jittering my body. I chugged the vodka. I might just need it.
