I sat at the kitchen table eating a slice of pizza, knowing I should really be eating anything else. But, I was the only one home, and it's not like anyone was here to stop me.
Or keep me from seeing Louis.
I was in an internal fight with my body, one part telling me to stay, the other urging me to go.
It was time I gave in to the less sane part of me. I needed to live a little.
But I also, and more importantly, needed answers.
There were certain lengths I was willing to go, and seeing Louis was definitely at the edge. I was on the fence, and my heart gave me the little tug I needed to be on his side.
It pains me to say it, but I still had feelings for Louis.
And I also, in a small, unknown part of me, felt something for Mason. I don't know what it was, and I was too afraid to find out.
As soon as I finished eating, I drove over to the small cafe, entering the homely store.
I slid into a booth, looking down at my phone to check the time. It was already 7:08pm, and Louis was no where to be seen.
Typical Louis. What hurt the most was the fact that this didn't surprise me at all.
"I never should have come," I whisper under my breath.
All of a sudden, the door bursts open, and in comes walking Louis.
I control myself from rolling my eyes at his ostentatious entrance. But, that was just like Louis to do something like that. It always has been, and bad habits never die.
"Candice," he says while sliding into the seat across from me. Good. Don't sit next to me. "Thank you for meeting me here."
I scoff. "Don't thank me just yet."
"I need to get some things off my chest," he says with pleading eyes.
"Go ahead. I'm waiting."
He sighs, taking in a deep breath of air. "I need you to know what I did was a mistake. I never meant to hurt you. What you saw, it wasn't me. It wasn't the real me. It was an accident. I didn't mean for it to happen. It just did. I wasn't thinking clearly, and I obviously was right in the head."
"You weren't right in the head?" I say sternly. "You were drunk of your ass when I caught you! And you knew better than to do that!"
"Please," he pauses, "let me explain."
"This was a waste of my time," I say as I get out of my seat.
"Wait, Candice, please. I can imagine how hard it was for you to find me like that with...her."
"Her? Louis, I only found you once but god knows how many times you were with her! And I know for a fact it was not a one time thing. She was your second girlfriend, and when you were with her you didn't even think about me. You didn't even fill the tiniest but guilty. And that's what scares me the most."
"It wasn't like that. I didn't have any feelings for her. At all. I only cared about you, Candice."
"So what? She was only for sex because I wouldn't do it with you? Was she there to control 'your urges'"?
"It," he hesitates, "it wasn't like that."
My heart drops. "You know just as well as I do that it was. And don't you dare lie to me, not after all that happened."
"There's more to the story," he starts, but I get up from the table before he can continue.
"I'm done with this. I'm not talking to you anymore."
"Wait! Don't go. I need to finish, please."
I stand there and look at him for a second, taking in his sad expression.
"For your sake, you better be sorry. Continue," I say as I sit back down.
His body loosens as he starts to speak. "As you know, I was drunk. Really drunk. You were only 17 then, and I couldn't take you anywhere. Besides, your parents wouldn't let you fly to New York, so I barely got to see you. I was upset."
He looks up to meet my eyes. "I was... lonely."
My eyes water up as the memories resurface. "You were lonely for three months? Lonely enough to cheat on me with the same girl for over three months? That's bullshit Louis, and you know it. You cheated on me because you think you could get away with it and still keep me in the end. Well newsflash asshole, you don't get me back."
I stand straight up, anger fuming out of my body. "I hope you're side bitch was worth it, because we are over. We've been over for a long time."
I'm standing over by the exit, watching as rain starts to pour down onto the streets. Before I know it, Louis is right next to me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Candice," he barely whispers. "I love you."
My eyes are full of tears as one slowly falls down my cheek.
I take all the strength in me, and sniffle back any cries. "You made a mistake Louis. A BIG mistake. And I hate you for it. I hate you. Now leave me alone and never speak to me again!" I yell as I slam open the door and clash into another body.
Yeah, it's short. But oh well, I still hope you like it. Now, I wonder who is behind all these surprise visits? Hmmmm.....
That's all for now
