I froze as the voice registered in my head. What in the...?

I spun, completley suprised to see Lia standing behind me, a cute smile on her face. I immediatley softened my tense face and shoulders. Lia was way to sweet for my pissy mood.

"Um," I started, feelng awkward. "Hey Lia. What's up?"

"Nothing much! It's just, I saw you leaving and I thought we could hang out and I didn't know this was your off period?" She questioned. Damn. Lia was a talker, that was for damn sure.

"Well... yeah it is." We stood in a slightly awkward silence, both waiting for each other to speak. I just couldn't find it in myself to be mean or bitchy to Lia. She looked even more petite and doll-like today in a mid-thigh length cream colored sundress, pink roses adorning it in a scattered manner. Her soft brown hair was piled on her head in a soft bun, fringe on her face. Pink flats completed the dolly look.

Thankfully, Lia broke the awkward, tense silence. "So... want to walk around a bit before we have to go back to class?"

"Love to."

We walked to the other side of the building outside, where there were large and lavish trees. A small bench sat underneath a big weeping willow tree. We picked that as our spot to chat.

"So, how are you and Andrew?" she asked lightly as we strolled towards the bench. I blushed slightly and shrugged.

"I dunno. I mean, he is your brother. Shouldn't you know more than me?"

Lia giggle a high, girly giggle. "Well, I suppose but he's been a little distant lately... and I have a reason it's because of you." She peered at me with her amethyst eyes. "What happened?"

I stared forward determindley. "I don't know. Andrew hasn't been at school for weeks and the last day I saw him was in the woods with this really weird pale, red-eyed dude named Yolan. I can't freaking get him out of my head - Yolan, I mean." Andrew already has a permanent spot but anyways... I sighed. I peered at her face and noticed how she blanched at me mentioning Yolan. But I continued. "He chased us through the woods before I tripped over myself and brought us both down. Then Yolan started saying some shit that pissed me off and he kept calling me a child and a 'half-breed'. I don't know what the hell that means and when I turned to ask Andrew, he looks all sad and angry and lost. Then he tells me I 'need to figure it out on my own'! What the hell?" I sucked in a deep breath, letting it out in a sigh. "And by the way, I'm not sure why I'm telling you this. I barely know you, or Andrew, for that matter."

She smiled softly, her skin's natural color returning.. "It's alright, I can keep a secret." We continued walked and she suddenly bent down, scooping up a tiny daisy. She twirled it between her fingers. She looked up at me. "Can I ask you a question, Evie? If I may call you Evie." Her sweet British accent had a hint of authority in it, somewhat shocking me.

My brows drew together. "Uh, yeah, Lia... I really don't have a problem with that. But what's your question?"

"What's your favorite mythical creature?"

I stopped walking. What the hell kind of question was that?

"Um... what?" I questioned, slightly confused. She stared at me, her purple eyes swirling.

"You heard me. What's your favorite mythical creature?"

"Uh... um... er..." I was at a loss for words. How was I supposed to answer that question? I flipped through my head for fantasy things.

"Uh.. lycans?" I said, but it sounded more like a question. Lia nodded appreciativley.

"Well, mine is vampires."
