James POV

I stretched as I walked from the building we had set up head quarters in. It was an old brick mansion that was in the middle of the town. Pretty much when we had gotten here two weeks earlier everyone had spread out allowing themselves some breathing room after being cramped up in the base for all that time. Eventually we had gotten around to checking on everyone's family but for their safety and ours no one knew where we were staying. I saw Liva walking alongside Kira. She was one of the four young recruits who made it out of the raid. Her powers were extreme. If she touched someone in any kind of rage of emotion than they could either become deathly ill or die. The only person who could reverse the effects was her twin sister Abby, but her powers would evoke a sense of carelessness that was equally as deadly and the effect had to be checked by Kira. The two had never been separated.  Liva had automatically taken both girls under her wing and had began teaching them ways to stabilize their powers. So far it was coming only fairly well since neither girl could touch anyone but each other for two days after the raid with out the person nearly dying or going on such a high that they forsook all care.

"James! Could you come here for a moment?" Eliza came running from the house she had set up as her home.

"What do you need?" I regrettably pulled my attention from Liva.

"I was thinking that we could set up like a threatening looking storm around the island to try and keep people away and that is right up your alley, right?" Her eyes looked hopeful but that wasn't gonna happen. Eric and I had already decided on a different idea. One that involved Tara and the fact that she had not only learned to create a force-field but could easily create on large enough to hide the island and could maintain it with very little energy usage as long as nothing hit it.

"I would love to tell you yes, but I can't. Eric has called the meeting tomorrow night to discuss safety options and with him being the leader it is really up to him. " Eliza was a great person don't get me wrong it is just that everyone chose Eric to lead us and for him to make the decisions concerning our safety and I definitely wasn't going to be the first to challenge his leadership.

"Oh? He has? I thought that was just to make sure everyone was doing fine. Well, he really has this whole leader thing under control don't he?" She smiled, then flipped her hair over her shoulder as she walked away.

"James, want to go on a hunt?" Mike and Steven came up behind me. Before I answered I looked around for Liva but she was already gone.

"Sure. We are running a little low on provisions." The Island was full of all kinds of natural wildlife and we had begun using certain kinds for food after we ran out of the meager supplies we brought from the base.

Liva's POV

"There you go, Kira." She had been wearing the gloves that were specially made for her by her parents who had hid hers and Abby's powers all their lives since the raid. But today she was attempting to keep her emotions in check by petting animals without them on. Her powers effected animals differently than humans but it was a good test nonetheless. For instance instead of them dying or becoming terminally ill they would simply freak out and attack. Normally though most animals loved her and would gladly walk up to her without hesitation.

"I have really been working on this because if I can't learn to control my powers I'll never be able to have a family. I mean Abby could because what harm is a little carelessness, but getting deathly ill just because I feel any kind of emotion? Who would even love someone like that?" Her voice cracked as I slid my arm around her shoulders and hugged her. I had over heard her fight with Abby that morning. When the only person who had stuck with her from birth had called her a freak and blamed her for everything that had went wrong in their lives. I didn't think that Abby had really meant that I think that she was just upset because when she told Brian, (The water boy that James had helped during the raid) that she liked him, he said that he wasn't interested in her.  I couldn't help but smile as I realized that I knew more about what was going on here than the telepathic people.

"You are loved and your power isn't a curse." I held her tighter, " I promise that you will learn to control it. I mean look at how good your already getting." Even though she was crying now she was still petting the duck that had waddled over and it was so calm that it was sitting in her lap. I pushed her raven hair from her face and couldn't help but think of her twin. Besides the fact that their powers were the complete opposite of each other the girls looked nothing alike. Kira had raven hair, dark brown eyes, honeyed skin, and could often be seen wearing black or other dark colors, while Abby was bleach blonde, blue eyed, with paled skin and was always wearing a cheery color.

"Umm, excuse me." Both myself and Kira looked up to see Brian standing there. I raised an eyebrow at the boy. " I was wondering if I could talk to Kira for a moment?"

"Sure, I was just about to head off to find Eric and discuss some plans for a schedule." I couldn't help but smile at the nervous way that Brian  nodded his head, and I realized why he had told Abby that he wasn't interested. He had caught the bug bad for her twin.
