I nearly jumped out of bed when I woke up this morning. I slept until 10 o'clock, which gave me thirty minutes to get ready. It was a lazy day, and I couldn't really get dressed up with this stupid boot on. Instead, I dressed in a T-shirt and some sweat pants, and threw my hair up into a messy bun. I put a flip flop on one foot. I headed to the bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth.
Bear was waiting for me at the stairs. I slowly walked down them, and nearly slipped when I put my foot too close to the edge. I sighed in relief when I managed to catch myself on the railing and on Bear.
Once I made it downstairs, I entered the kitchen. It was empty, and I grabbed a granola bar. I heard the tv on in the living room, and made my way into there.
Dad was sitting in his recliner, watching the news. He was scowling at the reporter, who was talking about a robbery at a gas station.
"More and more crazy people turning up nowadays, Rocky," he said, his eyes still on the tv.
"I believe it. Good thing we're not like them," I said.
Dad nodded. "Good thing." He turned away from the tv and turned to me. "We're crazy in our own way though."
I smiled. "Very true."
"So!" He loudly said, catching my attention. I jumped in response. "I'm assuming you're going to go see your boyfriend today?"
I blushed. "Dad he's not my boyfriend."
"Sure he isn't," he said, grinning. "It's fine by me if you go and see him. I'm planning on catching up on all my games today."
"Thanks Dad. I'll be next door, and I'll have my phone on me," I told him.
I was almost out the door when I heard, "Hands stay above the blanket!" come from the living room. I blushed even more and shut the door. Dads always knew how to embarrass their daughters.
I awkwardly skipped and ran to their house, considering the added weight I had. I wanted to get there fast and not waste any time. Blushing at how excited I was to see him, I slowed down. Should I be this excited to see my best friend? I'll have to ask Caitlyn. She might know more about this than me.
I scowled. Why do I keep denying my feelings? I have a crush on Grayson, so what? I began to think of all of his fans, and all of the pretty girls that he probably knew. He just met me a few weeks ago, he probably doesn't even think of me like that.
By then I was at the door. I removed the scowl from my face and rang the doorbell.
I didn't have to wait long. Grayson opened up the door, and his face split into a smile when he saw me. I felt my face stretch into a grin too. My earlier negative thoughts were shoved away by the pure excitement and happiness that he brought to me. I couldn't help but smile when I saw his face.
"Hey Rocky," he said.
"Hey Gray," I replied.
"Ready for the movie day today?" He asked, letting me inside.
"Yeah! I have to warn you, I haven't seen a lot of movies."
"Like what?" He asked.
I thought for a second about the movies that I had heard girls talking about in school. Only one named stuck out to me, so I told him. "Pitch Perfect 2."
