I woke up the next morning with Bear's massive weight on me, and the smell of bacon and eggs wafting from the kitchen. My stomach growled loudly, and I managed to push Bear off me and I walked from the couch and through the arch that lead to the kitchen. Dad sat at the table with a newspaper in hand, drinking his coffee black as he read. Mom stood at the stove, cooking breakfast. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and yawned. I looked out the window and saw the sun barely peeking above the horizon; the normal time we wake up.
"Morning sunshine. How did you sleep?" Dad asked me as I sat down in front of him. I gave him a sleepy smile and thanked my mom as she set a plate in front of me.
"Good. How did you guys sleep?" I asked them around a mouthful of eggs.
"Pretty good," they both replied. I smiled. They knew each other so well, that they spoke together. They were so deeply in love, and you could see it whenever they looked at each other. A pang of jealousy spiked through me and I looked down at my plate of food. I would never find anything like that.
"So what are your plans for today, Rocky?" Mom asked and I finished up the food and put the plate in the sink.
"Well the twins were thinking of taking me on a tour of the city. I think I'll go get ready and head over to their house," I explained. Mom nodded and said that would be fine. I turned to head upstairs and get ready, but was greeted by my dad staring at me with his arms crossed.
"Who are you going with?" He questioned. I sighed; it usually was like this. He always did this.
"The Dolan twins, sir."
"Where are you going?"
"Around town sir."
"When will you be back?" He asked, giving me that "dad look" that involved a raised eye brow and a hardened stare.
"I don't know, but I will be back by curfew. I will call you when I'm on my way home sir," I said. He considered it, then nodded. I grinned and kissed his cheek before running upstairs and heading into a room full of boxes.
"Crap," I muttered beneath my breath. I looked at my phone sitting on the ground, connected to the wall by a charger. The clock read 5:30. They probably aren't even up. So I set to work. Dad and Ma had already put my desk, dresser, and mattress in my room, and I quickly rearranged the furniture, then built my bed frame. Dad had left tools for me to use by my door, and I gladly took them.
Once that was done and my bed was made, I quickly unpacked the boxes and put the items they contained into their correct places. I put up some Christmas lights around my room, along with some curtains. Once I was finished, I admired my work and nodded in approval. Then I began to go through my clothes, before I settled on some denim shorts, brown cowboy booties, and a blue plaid shirt with a black tank top underneath. I grabbed the articles of clothing and headed to the bathroom, where I set them down and began the shower.
Once warm, I stepped into the water and began to scrub the shampoo and conditioner into my hair. The body wash followed, and soon I was out and drying off. I brushed my hair and put on my clothes, and I walked out with my hair still damp. I didn't really feel like doing anything with it, so I put it into a messy bun and called it a day. Putting on the shoes, I headed to the door with my phone.
"Bye guys!" I called out behind me.
"See you later!" Mom hollered back and I began the short walk to the Dolan's house. I walked with a skip in my step; I was excited to see the town!
My phone read seven o'clock, and I smiled. The perfect time to start a day. I walked up to their front door and knocked, the sound seemed to be incredibly loud compared to the quiet surroundings.
