"Forward, not permanent, sweet, not lasting"
Tis what dear brother said as he left my closet that night
"The perfume and suppliance of a minute, no more."
"Be something scanter of your maiden presence"
Is advice my father gave,
The last wise words that left his tongue
Before he's laid to rest.
What wise words they were indeed
As just before he slept eternally the cold, the evil lord, my Hamlet
Spoke to me with nothing but venom on his once honeyed tongue.
"I loved you not!" He said
"Get thee to a nunnery!" as cold as ice
His hands of coals and embers burned
As they gripped me in a deadly vice.
And though my brain is broken, tangled as the vines I run through
I still want my Hamlet by my side, holding me like he did once
I want to show him the flowers, in hopes that he may gain their lessons.
Rosemary for remembrance, rue for king's repentance
And some for me, for my sorrow is great, drowning like the river below me
A daisy's unrequited love, for faithfulness is dead
My father took all faith I have when Heaven took him in her loving arms.
But what's a woman to do without faith?
Is that not the only reason left to live,
When love is long gone, or has never existed
And your family has all left you alone to stay for all eternity
Nothing but your beauty and your broken mind to keep you?
Aye, no! Alone I will not- I cannot be.
I will join my father in his eternal sleep,
In heaven's caring arms.
Oh mighty river I ask you now, do not break my fall
Oh sweet sky I plead with thee, do not let me fly
And to my lovely Hamlet, I must tell thee goodbye. Please know,
That though you may not love me, my heart cannot help but love thee.
