Time seemed to stop. How could this happen? Her whole world fell in one dark moment. Acrista watched as it shattered before her eyes-in each falling shard she saw a warm memory. The shards pierced her heart as cold knives seeking only her demise. Each one brought a jolt to her being-unwilling to move. This may have been a good thing, for if she could have moved she may very well have thrown herself out of the window.

Her tears poured from her eyes as she struggled to move, wishing to only act on her pain and anger with irrational action. Suddenly, a scream, so loud it nearly burst her eardrums, rang out through the room. It lasted for several long moments. Acrista could not tell where it was coming from, but it seemed to come from every direction, all at once. It consumed her mind.

That was when she realized that it was, in fact, herself who was producing the earth-shattering noise. With each passing moment of her scream she felt a small drop of her pain and grief leak from her. But only for one fading moment.

After what felt like hours, the noise ceased to exist and only silence was left. Only the sound of tears hitting fabric broke the ensnaring silence.

Her mind was racing, but there were hardly any thoughts which consumed her now. Madame Lea... Madame... Lea... M... M... Mother... gone...forever....never to return. It all hit her so fast, one sudden blow. Her everything was gone... death followed her wherever she ventured.

Her parents-her only blood family-taken by the jaws of death. Never to return. Madame Lea, the only person who was ever near a parent to her... Aidalan... her love... her life... taken by war, time, and death.

Time... her mind lingered on the word. It seemed to be her enemy, following her, consuming those she loved. With Aidalan gone, she thought it would be impossible for anyone to love her, except her adopted mother that is. But here was Eramif. Loving her. He had, in fact, professed his love for her only minutes ago, but time and death took even the hope of being loved from her.

How was she to go on? If she ever moved on from her grief and had the opportunity to return Eramif's feelings... time and death would surely take him from her. But she did not love him in that way.

How was she to say that to him? Her only motherly figure, and source of advice, had just been taken from her, ripped from her life. She would have to face everything alone now. He'd said he did not require an answer now, but when he did, how was she to tell him that she could never love him? That her heart lay with the dead body of Aidalan? When she heard that he'd died, she too died with him. She knew it would be possible to love again, but not after such a short time of grieving. And now with Madame Lea gone... could she ever force herself to love?

She still could not move. The chains of the cold clinging to her. All she could do was shake her head slightly, and with that, she closed her eyes, hoping to block out the world. Block out the memories, block out her grief and misfortune. Block out Eramif...

Hey guys!!! So, I'm about to start several books and this one is part of the series. They haven't really got anything to do with each other but once I come out with the second to last you'll understand! So if you could read my "The Angel's Reality" that is also a part or the series. I can't say too much for fear of spoiling it. But I hope you enjoy!!!!! 😁
