Everything in life is temporary. The people you call your friends right now, may not be around in one year. Your high school boyfriend may not be the one you marry in ten years. And high school is not what they tell you in the movies. It's not high school musical. For some people, it's hell. For others, it's their kingdom.
Lacey Goldberg is an 18-year-old girl who has had everything handed to her whenever she pleased. With wealthy parents and only one little sister to worry about, she got everything she ever wanted. Even when her sister, Stacey, came into the world, she still got everything she ever wanted. That goes from ponies to dollhouses and from guitars to pianos. Her parents treated her and her sister as princesses and now that they're in high school, they need to prove that.
"Cheer practice tonight?" a short brunette girl asks as she sits down, opposite of Lacey at the cafetaria during lunch. It's only Tuesday and Lacey is already tired of everyone here. Luckily, her best friend Violet will make things better.
"Err-yeah, I guess. We need to be ready for Saturday's game, don't we?" Lacey replies with a half-genuine smile. Violet furrows her eyebrows.
"What's up, Lace? You seem out of it." Lacey opens her mouth to answer when two boys come to sit next to them.
"How's my favourite cheerleader doing?" the ginger god that is her boyfriend asks and presses a kiss to her cheek. Archie is the captain of the football team and possibly the hottest guy in school. He has the whole package. Luscious ginger hair, gorgeous face, muscly, and above all the sweetest guy to walk on the earth. Lacey did not deserve him.
"I'm fine," she replies, biting her lip slightly as she tries to avoid all eye contact with Violet. The brunette is busy with her boyfriend anyways. Ryan is Archie's best friend, but far from as perfect as mister captain of the football team. Even though Ryan has a pretty face and a great body, he doesn't care half as much about Violet as Archie does about Lacey. They're just together for the sex. Which is sad. Violet deserves better than that.
"You still on for that date tonight?" Archie asks with a sweet smile on his face, a dimple appearing in his cheek.
"Yeah, of course. After practice, right?" Lacey questions, making Archie smile and nod his head in response. For a few seconds, they stay like this: staring at one another with smiles on their faces, looking like complete idiots.
"Hey, love birds," Ryan interrupts their moment, making them snap out of it and look at their friends again, "There comes wreck-Melanie-Ralph," he says, nodding into the direction of a blonde girl, clad in joggers and an oversized jumper.
"Oh, give her a break, Ryan," Lacey says, rolling her eyes before turning towards the walking wreckage, "Mel!" the girl's head pops up, a small smile appearing on her face. She walks towards the table and sniffles.
"Hi guys," she says weakly. Melanie used to be a cheerleader, but after her boyfriend broke up with her a week ago, she got kicked out. It was hard for her to show up at school, let alone cheerleading practice. Yes, she's been walking around like that for a whole week. The poor thing. Lacey gives her a sympathetic smile and pats beside her.
"I-I think I'm just gonna go home, guys. I really can't do this. I thought I could, but I can't, I'm sorry," she explains, then starts sobbing again and rushes out of the cafetaria.
"Aw, poor thing," Violet pouts, genuinly feeling bad for the girl. Those three used to be the unholy trinity. See Lacey, see Violet and Melanie right beside her. They used to be inseperable. Until hurricane Jason came along and ruined poor little Melanie.
"I still can't believe that douche got away with it, to be fair," says Lacey, scanning the cafetaria for the douchebag in question. Instead of finding the blonde footballer, her eyes fall upon the boy sitting at the table near the door. His brown hair falls in front of his face as he peers at his computer screen, typing away. It's like his fingers are doing a happy dance across the keyboard, it's almost fascinating. Realizing she's been staring at him for a good minute, she tears her glance away from him and continues to scan the room.
"There he is," she mumbles once his blonde locks come into view. Both Violet and Lacey get up and walk towards the football player-slash-jerk, neither of their boyfriends stopping them.
"Hey douchebag," Violet starts, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Jason looks up at the two girls in front of him, slight terror flashing in his eyes. Everyone knows that when two of the unholy trinity of Roosevelt High School stand in front of you with bloodthirsty eyes, you may not survive. The whole school had suddenly changed into a battlefield.
"I don't know if you realized what you've done, blondie, but you ruined one of our school's favourite Roosevelt Roses," Lacey starts in her typical bitchy tone.
"And somehow got away with it," Violet adds in the same tone. By now, everyone in the cafetaria had stopped eating and fixated their attention on the Roosevelt Roses. Some of them even got their cameras out. Lacey briefly takes a glance at the boy near the door. Even he's stopped typing and has his eyes on the battlefield.
"How many hearts did you break this week, Jace?" Lacey questions, taking a step closer, "How many times did you get your heart broken, huh? Do you even know what it feels like when you put all your trust and love into one boy, only to have him rip your heart out and step on it like it's a bug?" Lacey spits out, her eyes narrowing.
"How many girls did you nail this week, Jason?" Violet questions, now also taking a step closer towards their victim. Jason swallows a lump in his troath. "Say it, Jason. Say it in front of the whole school. How. Many. Girls."
"S-seven," he stutters, barely audible.
"Louder, Jason. I don't think everyone heard you," Lacey tells him, a grin plastered on her face.
"Seven! Seven, okay? And I'm sorry for all of them, but I had an itch to scratch," both Lacey and Violet raise their eyebrows.
"An itch to scratch? You needed seven girls to scratch an itch?" Violet asks, tilting her head to the right a little, investigating him.
"Yeah, and you can be the eighth if you want," he tries. Violet scoffs."You're a such a fuckboy, Jason. I'd rather cut out my tongue than let you kiss me with yours," she continues, completely disgusted with what just came out of his mouth. Boys like him don't deserve any girl that walks this earth. They're way too precious for that.
"Say you're sorry, Jason. Say you're sorry for ruining the whole female population," Lacey says, grabbing the cup of coke that's standing in front of him and starts pouring the ice cold drink over his head. His long, blonde hair starts getting sticky and sticking to his forehead, making him look absolutely ridiculous.
"Lace," Violet says, trying to stop her, "Lace, that's enough." But Lacey doesn't hear her best friend. Instead, she just continues pouring the soda over his head.
"Say you're sorry for ruining Melanie, Jason," Lacey shouts, the coke dripping off of his chin and his chair.
"Alright, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, okay?" When the words leave his mouth, Lacey stops pouring and puts the cup back down. She gives him a smile before going back to her spot with Violet, applause surrounding them.
"Wow, that was so hot," Archie says once his girlfriend sits back down next to him. He kisses her passionatly on the lips, making her jump a little in surprise.
"Aw, you two are the cutest," says Violet with a smile on her face and bites from her sandwich. Archie and Lacey pull away from their kiss with smiles on their faces and a slight flush to their cheeks. The foursome continue to eat their lunch whilst chatting amongst each other. Every now and then, Lacey gives the boy in the corner a couple more glances until the bell rings and everyone goes back to class, including Lacey and her crew.Today seems to be a pretty normal day in the life of Lacey Goldberg. With a tiny bit of torture, lots of love from her boyfriend, and fake smiles throughout the day. Tomorrow would be the same. By Thursday, her world would be falling apart and she wouldn't even be able to do anything about it.
A/N: Yes, another story for me. But I feel like I might be able to finish this. I can't promise you a chapter a day or even a week, but I'll try my best. Let me know if you like it!
Thanks for reading,
