*Victor's POV*
It was a few hours later that she started to wake up. Her hands twitched, then her eyes fluttered open. "V-Victor? What am I doing here?" Violet asked me. I hated to tell her the truth, but I knew it would have to come out eventually.
"You attempted suicide Miss Anippe. They had to perform a blood transfusion to make sure you'd live. Everyone is worried." he said. I looked down. "This is all my fault. If I hadn't run away from home, Chisisi never would've gotten sick and died and this never would've happened." I said, burying my face in my hands.
"No dear child, it's not. It was fate that brought you here, as well as some of your choices, but your fate lies at Anubis House." I told her. The doctor came in and said that she could go back in the morning and go to classes, but someone had to keep an eye on her.
*Violet's POV*
A little while later, I was finally able to move my own body. I moved my hands first and then opened my eyes. I saw Victor right beside my bed. I don't really remember what happened. I looked down at my bandaged wrist before looking at Victor.
"V-Victor? What am I doing here?" I asked him. He seemed hesitant, but he finally looked at me. "You attempted suicide Miss Anippe. They had to perform a blood transfusion to make sure you'd live. Everyone is worried." he replied.
I looked down. 'This is all my fault. If I hadn't run away from home, Chisisi never would've gotten sick and died and this never would've happened.' I thought to myself, burying my face in my hands.
"No dear child, it's not. It was fate that brought you here, as well as some of your choices, but your fate lies at Anubis House." he told me. A doctor came in soon after and said I could go back in the morning and go to classes, but someone had to keep an eye on me. "Get some rest Miss Anippe. You're going to need it for tomorrow." Victor said. I closed my eyes and sleep engulfed me once more.
The next day, I woke up at about seven with breakfast there and my clothes on the chair. Victor was still asleep in the chair nearby. I ate my breakfast and got changed for today. I then gently shook Victor's shoulder. "Victor. Victor. Classes start in about an hour." I said softly. He woke up and got ready to take me home.
We got into a cab that he called a little while ago and got back to the school. Victor paid for the cab and we thanked him before going towards the house. "Victor, there is something that you should know. While I was unconscious, Ma'at came into my dream and said-" I started, but he cut me off. "I know. I shall notify Mr. Sweet and we will figure things out later." he said as we entered the house. Trudy was the first one to greet me.
"Oh dearie." she said, grabbing me in a hug. She rested her hands on my shoulders. "We're so glad you're okay. Poor Poppy couldn't even leave until she knew you were going to be okay. Of course, by the time Victor called, the dear was already asleep in your bed. I hope that was alright?" she said. "Of course." I said, going upstairs.
I paused outside of the door, putting my hand on my abdomen. "Everything is going to be different now, won't it Seshat?" I asked. I sighed before entering the room.
I sat on the edge of my bed, careful not to wake up Poppy. I rested my hand on the blanket on her lower leg. She rolled onto her back and sat up. "Violet! You're okay!" she exclaimed, grabbing me in a hug as soon as she realized that it was me. "Yeah. I'm alive." I said to her, cradling her head as I hugged her. 'Though I didn't want to be.' I thought to myself. Amber then woke up, Nina's gran still asleep and Nina already awake.
"We were so worried. Poor Nina didn't sleep a wink." Amber said, joining the hug. I let go of both of them, walking over to Nina, who was standing by her bed. "Nina?" I said, taking her hands. "I thought we'd lost you. When I found you, I... I..." Nina said, trailing off. I hugged her, knowing what she was thinking.
"I know. And I'm sorry. I just- I didn't-" I started, not knowing what to say. "I know." she said, hugging me tighter. We got ready and then went downstairs. The others went ahead, acting as if they were sad because nobody else knew I was home except Victor, Trudy, Poppy, Nina, and Amber.
"I wish he had told her..." I heard Alfie say. 'Told me what?' I wondered to myself. "I don't think he knows it himself yet Alfie." Poppy said. "She was the coolest person I ever met." Patricia said, pain thick in her voice. "She always made sure others were happy before herself." Fabian said. "She was the greatest friend a person could've ever had." Mick said.
"I guess it's true then, what they say. You don't know what others think about you until they think you're dead." I said, walking in the door. "Violet! Violet!" Mick, Mara, Patricia, Joy, Alfie, and Fabian said as they walked up to hug me.
"You didn't follow my advice, did you Fabian?" I asked in his ear. "How do you know about that?" he asked. "I know about a lot of things." I said. They moved to the side when Jerome stood up. "You're back." he said, a slight sting in his voice. "Yup. And I'm glad to be." I lied, cracking my neck. "Good." he walked away. I looked at Alfie, pain and confusion in my face.
He walked out after Jerome. "Want to walk over together?" Fabian and Nina asked me. I gave them a half smile and nodded. I went into the front room to grab my bag before we left.
"It felt so real. You came in and I thought it was to apologize for yesterday, y'know." Nina started. "Ye-Ye-ah, I'm sorry about that, but I got some bad advice and I really wanted to-" Fabian started. "But it wasn't you. Or it was, but then you turned into the spirit and she was taunting me. And she gave me this." Nina said, pulling up her sleeve to reveal the mark of Anubis. It's an ancient curse that, legend has it, if one is given the mark, they only have so long to live before they die or are killed.
"What is that?" Fabian asked, holding her arm, making sure not to cover it. "She said ask the one who knows." Nina said. "Uh, you three." Victor said, walking up to us. "What's that on your arm please Miss Martin. Roll up your sleeve." Victor said, indicating the spot on her arm. "I'm sorry?" Nina asks. "Your sleeve." Victor says, making sure he is clear. She does so, not wanting to get in trouble. "It washes off." Nina lies. Victor looks scared almost. "I hope, for your sake, that it does. Don't let me see it again." he said before walking off. He knows what it is. He taught me about it once.
"What if Victor's the one who knows?" Nina asked. "Can't ask him. Kay. I have an idea." Fabian said, taking her hand and walking off. I sighed, following right behind them.
