Hi, everyone!
This is my first story on Wattpad! I hope you all like this! Please KINDLY correct me if I have anything wrong (maybe my grammar, my tense, or something that ilk) to help me improve my story to be much better for you, my fellow readers! It has been twenty years since my mother passed away, and in those twenty years, I have worked hard for my family where my father has become very depressed since then, he loved her much more than the earth needs the light of the sun.
Everything changed when the darkness came through the entire village and my whole life, even I could sense the sky and the earth won't mingle. My mother died while she gave birth to my sister. I could almost feel the pain she went through, she screamed with all her strength and tears flooded down her eyes, she pulled the blanket that covered her, she lost a lot of blood. Ada and I witnessed her as she breathed her last breath, one per one breath she lost. And at the same time, I heard the sound of a pure baby cry, I was too shocked and Ada crouched while he cried next to the unmoving body of Naneth who would sleep peacefully and thus forever. I was silent and downcast; I can remember and feel the clutter of that time.
He cried when the night grew dark such as wolves howling and reverberating all over the forest and village. He brooded and mourned in his bedroom while the cold of the moon turned into the heat of the sun as birds chirping above Ada's sadness.
The night began to shroud the day.
Dark clouds covered the sky as the stars began to reverberate with the sound of crickets. My sister, Gellamel and I always listened to our father cries. We listened to desperate cries of our father while we sat still and stunned in our bedroom."I have to do it again? I do not have enough money to buy medicine and herbs for Ada! I traded a locket, a precious locket from Naneth to pay our taxes!" I said as I laid my head on my sister's lap like a weak fallen leaf in autumn.
"What if Ada doesn't make it? He already missed Naneth, he would not wait for himself to meet Naneth, but I will help you, I will find a job soon, Selli." She said as she brushed my dark-brown hair with her hand, trying to calm me down.
"No! You can't do that, Amel! You're still young, you have to be happy, you have to play with your friends, I do not want to ruin your childhood." I stood immediately after my sister spoke.
What kind of sister am I? Throwing my little sister to work so hard, when she's still so young, very young, Nothing can happen to her, it will not happen whether I'm around her or not.
.
I walked around the forest as the sun started to show its own light. I looked for anything I could find to make a herb for my father, but turned out there was nothing to be found, there were no plants. Just dead leaves fallen from trees. So I decided to just wash my clothes at the riverbank.
I washed the clothes while I heard the sound of water bubbling and crackling leaves resting on one another. I enjoyed the sounds of nature as I daydreamed a little about my Mother when she was still alive.
"What if Naneth is still alive? Will it make Ada become like this? Has it made my life become this sorrow? I was so much happier back then when Ada still worked in his garden, Naneth and I still cooked a delicious meal every day, and Ari still played with her friends happily."
I threw my clothes and started to clean the others, but I threw it too far, it was swept away by the river. I attempted to reach it but I couldn't, so I jumped and swam into the river even though I knew that I can not swim.
I merely pushed my feet and stretched my hands to reached my clothes. It was so hard for me to catch my breath. The more I swam, the current of the river was too strong and way too deep for me.
I couldn't breathe and my heart beat began to rise. I tried to scream as hard as I could, but I was under the river water which was very deep and full of moss.
For just a moment I thought I had already drowned when everything began to go dark, I felt something or someone pull my hand...
