--Story--

"I need you to draft an address." You spoke to Steve, standing in front in his pre-serum form, while pacing back and forth due to the your antsy nature.

"Yes! He resigned. You can finally speak your mind-"

"No." You stopped him, looking at him, then bending down, and taking his hands. "He's stepping down so he can run for President."

Steve laughed, looking at you, his pen and paper in front of him. "Ha. Good luck defeating you, ma'am."

You sighed, standing up, and holding your hands behind your back, while taking a few steps away from him. "I'm stepping down." Looking away from him, you had your head down. "I'm not running for President."

"I'm sorry, what?" Steve said, almost dropping everything from shock.

"One last time. Relax, have a drink with me." Handing the small male a glass of whine from your desk, you smiled bright at him. "One last time. Let's take a break tonight. And then we'll teach then how to say goodbye. To say goodbye!" You twirled, look at him while looking at him. "You and I!"

"No, Ma'am, why?" Steve looked said, not wanting his best friend to leave back to her home town soon.

"I wanna talk about neutrality." You stated, handing him a glass of whine.

"Ma'am, with Britain and France on the verge of war, is this the best time-"

"I want to warn against partisan fighting." You ordered, giving the male a stern look.

"But-"

"Pick up a pen. Start writing." You ordered again, watching him scrambled to get his feather pen. "I wanna talk about what I have learned." You looked away from him, and out the window of the beautiful home you sat in. "The hard-won wisdom from I have earned!" You turned over, looking at him, while smiling.

"As far the people are concerned, you have to serve, you could continue to serve-"

"NO!" You yelled, then quickly regaining your calm fatigue. "One last time! The people will hear from me one last time!" You sipped the whine, and sighed, setting it down, ready to hear Steve's argument. "And if we get this right, we're gonna teach 'em how to say goodbye. You and I-!"

"Miss. President, the will say you're weak." Laughing softly at him, you sat on his lap, and cupped his cheeks.

"No. They will see we're strong." You nuzzled his face, which made him smile, dropping his pen.

"Your position is so unique." He sang quietly to you, his arms wrapping around your waist.

"So I'll use it to move them along." You spoke, your lips grazing against his forehead.

"Why do you have to say goodbye?" He questioned you, looking you in the eyes.

"If I say goodbye, the nation learns to move on. It outlives me when I'm gone!" You kissed his head, and stood up, looking away from him, but then looking out the window sadly, watching the beautiful cherry blossoms fall from the tree in front of your office. "Like the scripture says: 'Everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid.' They'll be safe in the nation we've made." Turning to him, you gave him the most saddest face you could ever muster.
