Chapter 6

For the gala, I wore a long peach chiffon strapless gown and a pair of silver stilettos that I shopped this morning. I got the advance and decide since this was a business gala I would dress up well and not embarrass Mack. Though I knew deep down I was hoping to stun Nick, who I knew for sure would attend this gala. I haven't seen him since that last time he barged into Mack's office, he wasn't around at the dog park either and I started to miss him a bit.

Mack picked me up at eight, Aliya yelled from the hall. I could hear them whispering and couldn't hear what they were talking about. The venue was the most massive ballroom I have ever laid eyes on. It had chandeliers dangling across the room, the decor was done up in white and grey.

First time at a ball? Mack whispered

Yes and it looks so grand. I replied

I am glad you like it; he tapped my hand that was at the crook of his arm.

Oh, look there is Nick, let's say hi Mack said and pulled me along to the snacks counter. Nick looked so dashing in the black tuxedo, his chest puffed out. He was by far the most handsome man in the room and he was getting a lot of looks from other women, I sighed inwardly knowing I did stand a chance at this ball to catch his attention.

I thought you said you wouldn't be able to make it to the gala? Mack asked with a sly smile.

Well it got cancelled, so I decided to drop by. Nick replied,

So Lina would you like me to get you a drink.

Yes a glass of red please

Al rite Nick just watch her for me; will be back in a bit.

Nick grunted, I felt hurt that he was forced to keep me company, his grunt said it all.

You look stunning Lina, he whispered.

Thank you Nick, you clean up well yourself. I replied knowing full well, he was just being polite.

Nick saw Mack and Lina walk in laughing, her hand in Mack's arm. It hurt him to see her with him, but he was going to do this for her. She didn't realize how much attention she was attracting, all the men in the room were staring at her. She looked stunning in that dress; it hugged her curves and showed off her assets in the most elegant way. He wanted her so bad, take her home and rip that dress off, have her way with her. He could feel his pants tightening and it was not good since they were walking towards him. Mack was enjoying this torture he was putting me through, if only he knew how Lina felt about him. He left Lina with me and excused himself to get drinks. Lame excuse.

 Mack came back with the drink, with a woman in tow.

Nick & Lina I would like to introduce you to Sophie. Sophie you know Nick I assume, Lina is my new assistant.

How long is this one going to last Sophie said with a lot of venom?

I glanced at Lina, I was afraid this was going to happen. Women here were snakes and Lina wouldn't be able to handle them, she would also get to know the real Mack who slept around with these snakes, not like i was any better. 

They started talking, Lina's face didn't show any reaction, in fact, she was graceful as ever, which I found disturbing. She liked Mack but didn't show any reaction to Sophie practically dry humping him. 

Nick. Nick. Nick. I snapped out of my thoughts. How about we take the girls and say hello to a few people.

Mack led Sophie in front of us and I guided Lina through the crowd.

Lina felt Nick's hand on the small of her back, guiding her through the crowd; she felt her body light up. He had no idea what he was doing to her, just that soft touch caused tingling sensations between her legs. She felt an itch she needed to scratch and the only way she could scratch is with Nick's hands. She blushed by that thought.
