Christmas Day

I rub at my eyes and push the small body shouting for me to get up as it was "Christmas." I hiss at him before racing him to the loving area finding no sign of any presents. We both run to the balcony area revealing the view of the heavenly sea engulfing the golden sand.

"Surprise!" My parents chant moving aside revealing a huge pile present after present piled up onto one another. "Thank you mom and dad!" Ethan shouts diving for his gifts, I stand with a smug smile on my face, my gift for both of them hidden behind my back. "Merry Christmas mom and dad." I say giving them their gifts, and unwrapping my presents. "Esme! I got a mini Ferrari! I told you is get one." Ethan exclaims and we all laugh together.

Bikinis, dresses, perfumes and makeup and my Vivienne Westwood purse! I open my next present. I shake it and it returns with a very limp sound. I open it revealing a locket with my brother and parents on either side, a small smile appears on my face. And I look up at my parents staring at me. "It's beautiful!" I sigh. "There's one more." Dad points out at a petite square shaped parcel. I eagerly open it up revealing a... First aid kit? "A first aid kit... Thanks I guess." I say my mother looks at my father who had gone quite red at this moment in time. "Yes Al, a first aid kit, you didn't happen to get that last minute from the shop just outside the hotel did you?" She smirks. He laughs before walking back into the living room. "Thank you guys."

I turn to Ethan who his gazing dreamily at his new toy helicopter. That's what happens when your parents are so rich they don't have anything to splash the cash on.

I put on my white bikini and make my way out to the pool area, not sure where the rest of them have disappeared to. I play with my new Christmas present that is laying on the crook of my neck twisting it around.

My purse lays on my shoulder slightly weighing me down, I open it to find my "favourite" Christmas present. Oh dad. I zip it back up and take a seat on the lounge chair to top up my tan before leaving in a few days.

I grab my book from my new black designer purse and take it out, but instead I end up putting it to the side as sleep takes over my body.

I am awakened to the ground shaking beneath my feet, and as I look around everybody seems to be experiencing the same thing. I search for the bright blond hair that I know belongs to my brother, I see him in the pool, my father clinging onto him and both had their attention drawn to the beach.

The sea had totally disappeared. I look back at Ethan his features displaying how scared he was at this moment in time.

The sound of screams and cries from a distance are heard, as I see a huge wave approaching.

"Ethan!" I scream as I watch my family being engulfed by this huge wave.

I cling onto my purse, the only thing I could hang onto and close my eyes tightly hoping that this was all a dream.

But I knew not that this, was just the beginning...
