The train had finally stopped. "We're here," Harry said when he opened the cart door. He smiled at you and you smiled back. He turned to Draco and they glared at each other for a long while with an uncomfortable silence until Hermione pulled Harry out of our cart. Draco looked back at you and grabbed yours and his stuff. "Here ya go," He said, handing you your stuff. "Thanks," you replied with a smile.
You walked out of the train and was greeted by Hagrid. "Hey, Hagrid!" You said and give him a hug. He was a big person, so when you hugged him, you feel safe. "Hello, y/n," he said with a large smile. You walked off with Draco to Hogwarts.
"Okay, I'll meet you at the dining hall, I have to put my stuff away," Draco said. "Yea, me too. Bye," you replied and walked off. You were walking to your room and heard some noise from the inside of your room. You had your own room when you were a first-year, so you confused about why there was noise coming from the other side of the door. You turned the knob and opened the door. There was a girl with medium length, dark-brown hair. She turned around and looked at you. 'Why does she look like a pug?' you thought to yourself. "Oh, so you're my roommate," She said with attitude. "Mhm...," you said awkwardly. You didn't ask her name, you honestly couldn't care less, especially with the attitude that she gave off. "Pansy Parkinson. You?" She said. She was annoying you already. "Y/f/n, Y/l/n," you replied, unpacking your stuff. "Ohh. So you are that girl on Daily Prophet that trained with those famous Quidditch players," she said with realization. "Yep," you said, with a hint of I-don't-want-to-talk-to-you in your voice. You didn't think that it was a big deal. Ugh, this means that the whole school knows.
You were getting annoyed with the way she was chewing her gum and the fact that she was making so much unnecessary noise. She was smacking her lips every time she chewed her gum. 'Can you shut up,' you thought to yourself. "I'm gonna go to the dining hall," you said, heading towards the door. "Oooh, I wanna go," she said in a super girly voice. 'What the- Why, me? Just why?' you yelled in your head.
Pansy walked into the dining hall first. Not much attention was given. She waited for you to walk in. You opened the door and walked inside the dining hall. Everyone from the Slytherin table started cheering and many people from other tables started cheering for you. They all had the Daily Prophet in their hands and you guessed that they saw you on the front page. You blushed and smiled awkwardly. Pansy scoffed slightly in annoyance. You walked over and sat next to Draco. "Hey," you said. "Hey, Miss Popular," he said jokingly. You both laughed. "Shut up," you said lightly punching his arm. Pansy saw Draco and you conversing with each other and sat in between you and him.
"Hey," she tried to say in a flirty tone. 'What the actual HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE'S DOING' you thought. "Uh, hey," Draco said awkwardly. 'Haha, get o u t' you cursed in your mind. You stared at her furiously. Harry saw this from across the room and furrowed his eyebrows. Pansy and Draco started a conversation, laughing and smiling at each other. She was obviously flirting with him and it was honestly obnoxious to look at. Crabbe was sitting on the other side of you. You put your elbow on the table and your head in your hand in annoyance. Crabbe giggled lightly at the scene right in front of him.
"You're so funny Drakey," Pansy said giggling. Those around Draco and Pansy cringed at the nickname, even Draco thought it was weird. This hit you hard. 'Drakey? DRAKEY?! OF ALL THE NAMES YOU CALL HIM DRAKEY' Crabbe also heard this and got scared of what you might do. Crabbe knew you liked Draco. It was only obvious to him. You hit the table and stood up. "I'm... not hungry anymore. I'm heading to class early today," you said and left the dining hall, heading for Slughorn's potions class. You talked to him sometimes because he listened to you rant and he was probably the calmest and collected teacher you could think of. You also knew he didn't really care much about teenage drama, so he'd forget the conversation sooner or later. You stormed into his class and slamming your books onto your desk and sat down. He got scared of your ferocious actions. "Are you alright, Miss Y/l/n?" He asked. "Why are you here so early?" "I just needed to clear my mind," you said.
The dining hall was dismissed after 5 minutes you left to go to your class. The classroom flooded with wizards and witches. Hermione sat next to you. "You alright?" she asked. You looked ahead as Draco sat down and Pansy sat next to him. "Nope," you said plainly. "You okay, y/n?" Draco turned and asked. You smiled at him. "Yea."
You couldn't focus with pug-face laughing with Draco. 'He seems happy...' you thought. 'Oh, what the hell? Why am I acting like this? He's my best friend.' You thought to yourself.
You finished your potion first and got an A. You walked outside of the classroom and waited for Draco. "Hey," he said as you two started walking to your room. "Hey," you said. You sounded different. "You alright?" Draco asked. "Yea, I'm fine. Are you?" you replied. "Yea, Pansy and I have been talking a lot," he said. "Yeah, you seem happy with her," you said. "I mean I guess. Gotta make that good first impression, right?" he said jokingly. You weren't in the mood for laughing, but you forced a small one. "I'll uh, I'll see you later I guess," you said as you arrived in your room. "Okay, bye!" he smiled. You gave a fake smile and went into your room.
Pansy was the first thing you saw when you opened the door. 'Great,' you thought to yourself. You put your stuff down on the side of your bed. You went to the bathroom and changed into your pajamas. You wore black shorts with a Slytherin crest symbol on it and a green tank-top with a small snake on it. "Draco is great. He's funny, he's cool... he's so hot," Pansy rambled. "That's great," you said sarcastically. Pansy rambled on and on about Draco. She had finally shut her mouth and fell asleep. You went out of the room and went to the Slytherin Common Room and sat in front of the fire alone. You were joined an hour later by Draco. "Hey, what are you doing up?" he asked. "Could ask you the same thing," you said, avoiding the question. You sounded... angry or annoyed. Not your usual self. "Hey, you've been acting weird for a few weeks now. We haven't been walking or talking like usual." Draco mentioned. "Yea." was all you said. You shivered. Draco noticed and put his robes around you. You felt warm instantly and leaned on his shoulder. 'I just miss you.' you wanted to say. You got up from the couch a few minutes later and said goodnight to Draco and left. A tear escaped your eye as you walked out of the common room.
Pansy thought she knew everything about him. This same cycle happened all year. You were sick of it. She was always talking about him. You got to spend less and less time with Draco ever since Pansy came around. Draco would try and say hi to you but you would just look at him, give a fake smile, and walk away. But, his concern probably didn't last long because Pansy was constantly talking to him. Draco went to every one of your Quidditch games though. That's the only time that he wouldn't talk to Pansy. He would be cheering you on. You were the best seeker of all the teams at Hogwarts. After the games, Draco would come up to you and hug you and congratulate you.
You couldn't deny it anymore. The more you deny it, the more it hurts. But, the more you let it in, the more you realize that it will never happen. You were in love with Draco Malfoy.
