Anya D'Amato was murdered. And yet she's in my bedroom.
Chapter 3
Rudsel POV
*After*
I was sat in Steffen’s car. We were headed home after the whole Steffen yelling at Mr. and Mrs. D’Amato for allowing the school to have an assembly on Anya’s life. The thing is they didn’t even know about it.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. I took it out. I had a Sidekick. A summer present from Anya. I got her three huge bags of Starburst and five huge bags of Gummy Worms. That girl LOVED candy. I checked my phone. I had a text message.
From: Unknown Number
Message:
Wow! Steffen always did have a temper. He looked scary don’t you think? Scared the heck out of me. Although, it was scary I was kind of surprised that he talked… well yelled. But still. He hasn’t spoken for a while. I’m surprised that he lasted this long. Don’t get on his bad side. You know what happened last time…
I read the message over and over trying to find sense in it, but found none. Who was this? I don’t recognize the number. The message sounded like one of those stalkers from those scary movie.
I jumped startled. Steffen had placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Are you alright?” He asked. My phone vibrated again.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”

Message:
And he speaks again. Wow, we should piss him off more often don’t you think, Ruth. ; )
I gasped. Who was this person? How did they know Steffen was talking.
“Rudsel, what’s the matter. You don’t look so well.” Steffen asked with concern.
I nodded. I forced the lump in my throat down before speaking. “I’m fine,” I barley whispered.
Before he could say anything I hopped out the car. I closed my eyes and leaned against the car door. I ran my fingers through my hair. I opened my eyes starring straight ahead. Our front lawn was dark except for the dull street lights scattered around our street on the edges of the side walks. I was about to head inside when I saw a movement by the huge tree in our front lawn. A figure appeared from behind it. It was a person.
I tilted my head to the side and squinted my eyes. I stood there staring at the person while they stared at me.
“Rudsel, what are you looking at?” Steffen asked. I slowly turned toward him.
“Nothing just…” I trailed off. I turned back around to the tree. Nothing was there. I looked around. Then I saw it. Under the only street light on our street was the mysterious person. The figure was of a guys. Black hair, tall but not that tall, I could only make out the back of his head.
Before the guy came out of view he turned around. I gasped. No way. Impossible.
“Rudsel, your scaring me what’s the matter?” Steffen was shaking my shoulders.
I shrugged his hands off and headed inside.
I was hallucinating, right? Things like this don’t happen do they? No, of course not Rudsel, your just going crazy. You’ve had a long day that’s all. Ha!
I started laughing to myself. That wasn’t… That couldn’t be…
“Psh… No! Ha! Impossible.” I was talking to myself. My laughing died off as I realized that it was possible, but impossible.
