Did you hear that?
I heard nothing.
Exactly.
There's nothing to be heard.
Exactly.
Silence
Far
Away.
I drove five hours to Angelmere, a place where my wife grew up. We were a married couple, but I never get the chance to really know her parents. It was because the town she grew in was really small, and it took us hours to reach the place.
She did get the chance to tell her parents about me, but it was sent via postcard. I think her parents were quite happy since I get the chance to take her hand and accept her in my life. Even though I never see them, I'm quite eager to meet my parents-in-law for the first time.
She was sleeping, safe and sound. I took a glance at her, and I still couldn't believe I married someone this beautiful. I still remember the first time we met. It was at a library. I sat next to her, and she was just as beautiful as the first time I met her.
I started the conversation between us. Except it wouldn't be a conversation if only one of us is talking. But I consider it as a conversation, since she responded to everything I'm saying. She couldn't talk. She was mute. But it didn't diminish my determination to date her.
I ended up getting her phone number. It was the best night of my life. We talked via messages, and we agreed to meet up again, another date, another night. And I couldn't believe here I am, driving, with her sleeping next to me.
I smiled, recalling all the good times we had, and how we have been through bad stuffs together, and we're still here, side by side.
Slowly, her eyes were open. She had a pair of beautiful deep blue sea colored eyes. Her wavy brown hair was messy, but it just made her look even more stunning for me. She woke up and looked into the road as she pointed her finger towards the road.
"I know honey, it's super foggy, has it always been this foggy?" I asked her and she replied with a nod, also a wide smile plastered upon her dainty countenance.
"We're almost there" I could see the sign "Angelmore 1 km ahead." She was excited. Her smile was geting wider. I knew she must've been homesick. Afterall, she haven't been home for almost twelve years.
Welcome to Angelmere
I saw the sign; I saw the town; yet I didn't see anyone here.
