I looked around as Vulgrim blabbed about a horn and souls.
"Come" I jumped slightly at War's voice penetrating my thoughts.
I sighed and I walked ahead of him. We destroyed everything we saw and soon we had enough. To my surprise War kept exploring, we came across plenty of Wicked. They were harder for me to kill and so I let War kill them, he seemed to understand. Although I wasn't technically human no more, I used to be one and I still have a human soul.
I was heading towards a group of two chests, War was following at a distance of like ten feet.
Suddenly I heard a portal open, and there was only one. I wrinkled my nose as I smelled sulfur. I pulled out Solis and slid a foot back and twisted around swinging Solis as I turned. I planted my feet firmly and put extra muscle into my swing. I decapitated it as War sliced Chaoseater through the demons midsection. The demon's head flew off and its body fell to the ground in two pieces. I put Solis back and gripped my stomach. Gasping I looked up at War, he looked slightly shocked. I looked at the rip in my armor and the blood pouring out of it. When he cut through the demon, he must have been close enough to clip me with the tip. Err well 3 inches or so of the tip.
I looked back at War and immediately noticed that he had sheathed Chaoseater, and that the blade looked duller than before. It looked like it was still sharp, but it didn't shine as much. I met Wars eyes and I felt myself weakening. I turned around and started for the chests, hoping that one was a healing chest. I walked carefully, but it still jolted with each step. I felt a tear escape and that made me mad, I was powerless to stop the first but I took calming breaths. It didn't really work, it made me want to sit down and mewl like a lost kitten. I got close enough to see a blue aura around one chest and... a yellow around the other one. I stopped walking and looked around for any other chests. I felt helpless when I didn't see one. I heard War trotting up to me, I looked at him as he got closer.
I straightened up and gestured to the chests "Go and get them I will keep looking for a health chest."
He shook his head "No. You first, I saw a chest over that way."
He gestured with his chin to the left. I looked over and saw that there was one upstairs.
Well bend me over and screw me. It'd be easier than getting to that chest.
I started towards it but stopped when he spoke again "How do you plan on getting up the stairs?"
"By using my feet" I offhandedly replied as I struggled up the two that lead into the building. I put a hand on the wall as I started to feel extremely dizzy. Damn, I'm tired...
My thoughts were starting to get sluggish. I leaned heavily on the door frame as I waited for the dizziness to pass, but it was only getting worse. War came up to me and pulled me towards him, he then scooped me up bridal style. I didn't have the energy to feel embarrassed, instead I allowed myself to go limp. He jogged up the stairs only stopping when some Wicked confronted him. He turned and set me down, I watched his beautiful and deadly dance with them through half lidded eyes. After they were destroyed he came and grabbed me again, carrying me to the chest, which was thankfully green. He laid me out on the ground and punched it open, the souls hovered there for a second, deciding who needed them more. They flowed into me with a burning sensation and I groaned. After a second or two the sensation was gone, but a much duller pain was still there. It had only healed it half way, which its still better than nothing. I looked for something sturdy to grab onto so that I could pull myself to my feet. War reached down and pulled me up, and I leaned on him for a second. I pulled away from him and messaged my stomach as I walked to the window and kicked it out, it faced where Vulgrim is. I'm going to need to learn, so it's now or never. It's only 20 feet.
I stepped to the edge, I felt nervous so I took a deep breath. I lept forward, falling this time wasn't as bad. I let my arms out at my sides to stabilize myself, and I let myself relax. As I landed I bent my knees, bringing myself into a crouching position. I had to put a hand on the ground and stretch a leg out to absorb the shock and to keep my balance. I made it! OMG I feel so epic! Play it cool.
I stood up, after I took a few steps forward I stopped and turned to watch War jump down. He walked to the chests and opened them, and then he came walking towards me.
"To Vulgrim?" I questioned
He grunted "Yes, we need that horn and we need a crystal to fully heal you"
"Oh!" I whipped a finger into the air "Obviously my armor and bodysuit are screwed, I have my home in a separate dimension. I'm going to go there and change. You can come with me or head to Vulgrim, it don't matter to me either way."
He eyed me for a second "I will go to Vulgrim"
I nodded and turned away, I waved a hand through the air and the portal appeared. I stepped up and through into my house and let the portal close behind me. I quickly undressed and put on my stronger body suit along with my better armor. Why didn't I just put this on in the first place?
God I'm so stupid sometimes.
I hurriedly strapped Solis and Luna to my back, I also checked the magnetism on the holders. It was perfect, they could only be pulled off when I pull them off. I put Hubris on my hip and then opened a portal back to War.
I stepped out and saw that he was waiting for me, I looked to where the Gatekeeper was and saw that it was open.
"Wait so what do we do next?" I asked silently.
"Here crack it open and drink it." He handed me a crystal, I cracked it open and drank it. It tasted like the grasshoppers my mom would make on Christmas. My stomach tingled and then I felt no more pain. Huh I wonder if it scared, I'll check the next time my armor is off.
"Now we go to free Samael from his prison. Vulgrim says that he has the means to get us into the Black Tower."
I gaped for a second SAMAEL!? A huge mean ass demon? Death wish!
He turned and walked into the building, after a second I shook my head and followed him. I watched as he smashed all the furniture. I followed him up the set of stairs on the right but when we got to the top we saw that the door was firmly held shut by a pile of rocks.
"Let's try the stairs over there." I nodded over at the other stairs as I said this. I lept over the railing, I landed gently. Mmmm I love being in the air... when will my powers manifest?
I repeated the question to War as we walked up the opposite set of stairs. He shrugged and stopped walking.
Turning to face me he spoke "Female Nephilim start manifesting their powers after they have gone through their first heat." He seemed to be a bit uncomfortable but he kept speaking. "You will probably have your first heat within two weeks." I gave him a look heat? "Your powers will fully manifest then, but you have gone years without going in heat. That means that your powers won't wait a few years to fully manifest."
"So I will go into heat... like a dog. And that means I'm more likely to try having sex with any male thing I see. But at the end of my first heat my powers will be fully manifested or almost fully because when they withheld my powers it stopped me from going into heat...?"
He nodded
"Wow, well ok.... We should keep moving." This is awkward.
We reached the top of the stairs and stepped through the doorway. The path in front of us is impassable, I turned to look over the edge and saw two demons and only a ten foot drop.
"Dibs" Before War could question me I lept forward. Dropping to the ground I executed a roll and sprung to my feet. I drew Solis and Luna and grinned at the demons, the first one looked at me and laughed. I lunged forward and brought Solis down on its weapon while jabbing Luna into its mid section. It shoved me back and I lept into the air twirling, at the peak of my jump I opened my arms, allowing Luna to pass through its neck. I landed and I heard the other demons weapon whistling through the air. I whipped towards the demon and flung myself to the ground in a roll barely avoiding the weapon. I popped up behind it and without turning to face it I kicked its knee out. I turned to look at it, its back was to me and I quickly put Solis and Luna on the sides of its neck. The demon growled at me but before I could return the favor I heard War growl at it. I looked up to see him standing in front of the demon, without looking away I violently jerked my swords through its neck. I watched as it turned to ash and then I turned around.
"Wait" I turned to look at him and I saw that he was looking at something. I craned my neck and saw a Soldier Artifact.
"Oh Vulgrim will buy those from us! Do you want me to head up there and grab it?"
He nodded and jumped down another level startling a demon before he cut it in half. I cocked an eyebrow even if he doesn't realize it, he's got a flare for dramatic entrances.
I turned and looked around. How do I get up there? I saw a ledge and I grinned, I trotted over and used the bookshelves to get up. Maybe I can see if there are any books here that I'd be interested in. I love reading and I hate to see books being neglected like they are.
I sighed as I heaved myself into a standing position. I don't have the room to carry them with me.... I mournfully gazed at a stack of books. I heard a hiss and I turned around to see a demon. Crap. I drew Solis and waited for it to make the first move, once it lunged forward I cut it's arm off. It roared and pulled back but before it could do anything else Hubris was firmly lodged in its brain. It turned to ash and I retrieved Hubris and put it back in the sheath. I walked to the edge and a blue glow caught my eye. I tilted my head back and looked at it, whatever it was. It looked like a claw attached to the ceiling, on the other side of the room there was a ledge.
Hmmmm I turned away and towards the artifact, it was across the room where we entered. The path was pretty much gone, a beam on my side stuck out. I dashed forward onto the beam, once I reached the end I added some extra strength to the jump. I flipped in the air and landed in front of the artifact, I reached out and it shrunk into a fist sized medallion. I put it in my pouch and looked down at War, he had killed all the demons already. Shaking my head I jumped down, landing with a large splash next to him. I looked around again only to see a series that I adore. I walked over making googly eyes at it, I pulled the first book off the shelf and to my surprise it was in perfect condition. I read the blurb for like, the millionth time, and stroked the cover. I turned and opened the portal to my house, I gathered all four books and stepped in. War followed me but I just walked over to my bookshelf and set them down.
"I will organize them later." I looked at War as I spoke and then I walked back out of the portal. After a moment he stepped out and grunted at me to follow as he walked off. Closing the portal, I turned and followed him.
