I landed in a courtyard where I could hear metal on metal, not like fighting. No, it was like a forge. I tracked the sound with War right behind me, apparently I am better at tracking than he is. I found a door that was shut but Ulthane's hammer sat in front of it. War grinned and picked up the hammer easily, then he opened the door and there was a small hallway before we met a wooden door. The metal on metal sound was coming straight from the other side. War threw the hammer and through the shattered door I saw it hit the wall. I was on War's flank as he walked into the new room, the door still falling to pieces around us.

"Ah. Welcome back, Horseman." he kept hammering away at whatever it was. "You could have knocked. But I suppose that isn't your way, is it?"

"Why are you here" War asked the question, but his tone said that he expected an answer, and a good one at that.

"Strange question, seein' how you're the one, broke into MY house!"

"You weren't always the 'Black Hammer'. You huddle in exile -- a hermit among tombstones. Why? What role did you play in this, Ulthane?"

Ulthane avoided the question, and I felt War's anger. "Horseman... I've got something for you. A fair bit o' work, but... it's a bit dainty for me. It'll serve you better."

Ulthane tossed it and I saw that it was a gun. A pistol. A bit dainty my ass, that thing is still the size of my arm!

War caught it and immediately pointed it at Ulthane. Shock radiated through my mind but I let War do his thing. He wants answers for what happened and this was the easiest way. Ulthane didn't seem the least bit worried.

"You didn't answer my question, 'Old One'."

"Maybe I like the scenery. What's it to you? You asked for my help, and I gave it." He leaned closer to the gun pointed at him, "You go on bein' ungrateful and I'm liable to get upset."

War cocked the gun, I closed my eyes and sighed, War loves digging holes.

Ulthane shoved his forehead against the end of the barrel, "Do I look like I'm afraid o' death boy?"

War reluctantly removed the pistol and turned away. He started walking away then stopped turning back slightly, "It's not 'death' you should fear."

I felt that his mind was whirling and that he needed a moment, I let him walk away without following. I turned to Ulthane and studied him, he covered his emotions with bravo.

"I don't care what you did, but I do care about War." Instead of saying anything else I just shook my head.

"Yer the Horseman's mate."

I nodded at him and watched his every move.

"Yer also a good fighter, worthy to be his mate. I have somethin' for you to. I'll need yer swords."

I studied him but he only held his hand out, I gave him my blades. I kept Hubris close and I watched him turn back towards the anvil.

"I forged these blades, you kept 'em in good shape."

I took his praise with out a word, I watched as he placed my swords together and then he forged a new metal piece onto the hilts. When he was done he handed it to me, I felt War enter my mind checking my safety. I let him stay and I reached for my weapons, I held them in my hands and they didn't feel any different.

I placed them together in my left hand and the fused and grew into a beautiful bow. I gasped at it, it was gold and silver with whorls all along the length.

"The arrows appear when you draw it, they are magic and you will never run out."

I nodded in awe, "Thank you, Ulthane."
