*Lily's POV*

I was still cautious of the man, even if he says he is my mate. He's an Alpha, and I know what Alpha's do. Mason turned his attention to chains keeping me bound to the post. I felt my heart rate pick up when Mason moved closer to undo the chains. With a clatter the metal irons fell to the floor and I rubbed my wrists, keeping my distance from the Alpha.

"What is your name?" I peered up at him cautiously and then turned back to the floor just as quickly.

"Lily." My voice was quieter than a whisper and Mason moved closer.

"I'm sorry what?" I gasped and moved backwards in fright.

"My-My name is L-Lily sir." Looking anywhere but him.

"What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." I blushed and turned away, looking up at the forest.

I stared at the trees swaying back and forth in the wind, the birds flying high up in the sky and instantly became envious. They could go anywhere, be anywhere they wanted in minutes because...because they were free. Then I remembered I'm free. I have no chains to anyone. I'm no longer bound to my former pack. I'm a rogue and I'm free. I started walking to the trees wanting to be running to America in wolf form now. A hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me to their body. I struggled, attempting to pull my arm free and starting to freak out as I didn't want to be hit.

"Please- Please don't hurt me!" I whimpered when I realised that the person wouldn't let go. A hand pulled my chin up so I was facing the person. Mason stared back into my eyes with an emotion I've never seen before.

"I would never ever hurt you Lily, you're my mate." My eyebrows furrowed together. He can't be my mate. My-My father told me that I mate was so embarrassed that the Moon Goddess had paired him with me that he killed himself.

I pulled my arm away from Mason's grip and shook my head, tears forming in my eyes.

"You-You're not my mate." I hoarsely spoke. When I said this a stab of pain hit me right in the chest and I found it hard to breathe.

"I am your mate Lily. Can't you feel it? The way your wolf yearns for mine. The tingles when we touch. The bond we share." It's true I can feel all these things, but it doesn't add up. My father told me that my mates dead! I shook my head defiantly and made a run for it. If he is my mate, then he'd be better off without me anyway.
