Chapter 7

We got home tired from the long day that was full of events. And tomorrow we have school. Life sure is great. That was exaggeration. When we entered the door the house was quiet.
"Are they sleeping?" Ava asked.
I just shrugged my shoulders.
"The backyard is lit up." I said pointing to the back door. "They must be outside."
I started to walk to the backyard and Ava followed. I opened the door to see Victoria sitting on the swinging bench.
"Aunty's sleeping so keep the noise down." She said as I sat next to her.
Ava pulled up another chair so that she could sit in front of us. We just sat quietly playing with our hands.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I was such a bad sister to both of you. I regret the decision of listening to dad. I'm so sorry." Victoria said with tears starting to roll down her cheeks.
"Hey it's wasn't your fault." I said moving closer to her.
"I put Ava in the hospital for goodness sake! How can you guys not be upset with me? I ruined your lives." She added crying harder.
"We aren't upset at you because, we still love you and we knew what deep down inside you still did too." Ava said giving her a hug.
I went in to hug her too. The embrace of the three of us was something that didn't happen in a while. The love that we shared could never tear us apart. Even though I was upset at Victoria at times I knew that she still loves us. She might not show it but it was still there.
"Now stop crying before I start crying." I said pushing out of the hug laughing.
"Okay okay I'll stop." Victoria said also laughing.
"I'm happy we're back to how it was." Ava said sitting back down.
"Me too." I said with a smile on my face.
Today turned out to be not so bad after all. After we talked for a while everyone was getting tired. So we went inside and got ready for bed. I showered and did my normal night routine. Since Victoria was staying over too I shared rooms with Ava and Victoria got my room I had earlier. After I got out of the bathroom I walked to Victoria's door and knocked.
"Come in." She said from the other side.
I opened the door and walked in.
"I just wanted to say goodnight." I said sitting on the desk chair.
I played with some of her little toys she had.
"I really wanted to tell you guys. I really did." She said.
"Hey that's was in the past let's just move on. Okay."
"Okay."
"So goodnight." I added before standing.
"I'm sorry again." She said before I walked out.
"Victoria stop saying sorry before I punch you in the face." I said before walking out.
"It's not like you're going to punch me anyways." She said before I finally closed the door.
"Love you!" I heard her shout.
"Love you too!" I shouted back giggling as I walked down the hall to our room.
I opened the door and Ava was already sleeping.
"Goodnight." I whispered quietly before climbing into the extra bed.
I lied there staring at the ceiling having nothing in my head but suddenly the idea of Mark somehow came up. I grabbed my phone and opened messages.
Goodnight :)
I typed in the message box but I didn't press send. I deleted it and put
Are u okay?
instead. I again deleted the text and left the message box empty. I turned off my phone and put it back in the nightstand by the bed. Why do I hesitate when texting him? Oh yeah thats right I have feelings for Mark. Hazel sometimes you ask the stupidest questions. I usually don't need to think so hard about a text message in my life but I grabbed my phone again and opened my messages.
Gn :) See u tomorrow.
Is what I put this time and quickly pressed send before I could over think it. I saw that he immediately read it and was texting something back.
[Mark] Did u get home alright?
[Me] Yeah. Did u?
[Mark] Yup
[Me] That's good. Anyways gn again.
[Mark] gn Hazel :)
I smiled at the last text as I slowly closed my tired eyes.

RING RING RING
I hit the button on my alarm and sat up in bed slowly. I looked at the time on the clock with my half opened eyes and it read 6:00 a.m.
"Wake up Ava time to get ready." I said standing up to walk over to her bed.
"Why? Let's just sleep a little more." She said waving me away.
"No I ain't being late." I said shaking her.
Then I pulled her sheets.
"Ugh fine." She said before walking to the bathroom.
I was walking to the other bathroom and I saw Victoria making cereal.
"You're up early." I said as I passed by.
"Do you want a bowl?" She asked.
"Nah. I'll just eat a banana. But Ava will probably want one though."
I grabbed a small towel on my way to the bathroom. I entered while turning on the lights and faucet. I washed my face first then brushed my teeth. After I was done I grabbed the towel and patted my face dry. I exited the bathroom and I met Victoria and Ava dressed and ready to go to school. They were talking and laughing eating at the dining table. I smiled as I walked back to the room to change. I just threw on a pair of pants and a blue shirt. Then I grabbed a gray jacket and my gray shoes. I walked out of the room with my jacket and backpack on with my shoes in my hand.
"You guys ready." Aunty said checking her watch. "It's 7 o'clock already so let's go."
Victoria and Ava put their bowls into the sink and grabbed their bags then headed outside. I followed. We put on our shoes and raced to the car.
"I call shotgun!" I yelled before being the first one to reach the car.
I quickly opened the door and jumped into the car. I looked out the window and they were now walking to the car with salty faces. I just stuck my tongue at them. They opened the back door and climbed in. Aunty started the car we were on our way. The car ride was mostly quiet but there were some jokes here and there.
"So how long are we going to stay with you Aunty?" Ava asked.
"As long as you guys want to stay." She said pulling up to the school. "Now you guys have a nice day at school."
"Thanks Aunty love you." I said before leaving.
We stood on the sidewalk and watched the car leave.
"Meet you guys here after school okay." Victoria said smiling at us. "See you guys later."
We waved at her and she waved back. We were starting to walk and we saw our friend.
"Hey I haven't seen you guys in like forever. Did you forget about me?" Kylie asked as she put her arms around us.
Kylie is my best friend since kindergarten and when Ava joined the family she became friends with Kylie too. We always did everything together.
"We didn't forget about you we just made new friends with the new students." Ava said.
"You mean the new hot guys! You're friends with them!" She shouted.
"You're being too loud." I said shushing her.
"I don't believe you guys." Kylie said stopping in front of us and putting her hands on her hips.
"I'll prove it." I said grabbing her wrist and pulling her.
She followed Ava and I with a jerk forward. I let her go of her wrist and she continued to follow us. I spotted them sitting on a bench. Behind them was a small crowd of girls that were just staring at them. It looked like they were about to faint. I just laughed.
"Hey guys!" I yelled to get their attention.
"Hi Hazel and Ava!" BamBam said full of energy.
"This is our friend Kylie." Ava said gesturing to Kylie.
"Hi." Kylie said shyly.
"Hi I'm JB." JB surprisingly said as he reached his hand out. "I think you're in my Math class right?" He added still waiting for his hand to be shook.
"Oh yeah." Kylie said hesitantly shaking his hand.
Everyone was surprised to see JB like this but the rest of them introduced themselves.
"Well I think I should be leaving. It was nice meeting you all." Kylie said while checking her watch. "Come on let's go and check on Sophia."
"How about Emily and Ella? Are they not at school?" Ava asked.
"Yeah the twins are sick." Kylie answered.
"We'll see you guys at lunch. B.."
"You'll see me in photography right?" Mark said cutting me off.
"Of course Mark." I said laughing. "Bye now."
"Bye." Ava said and we followed Kylie.
"I can't believe you guys are friends with them!" Kylie whispered.
"You don't have faith in your friend?" I asked.
"No it's not like that. It's just that... Never mind let's just go." Kylie said before walking ahead.
"This girl I tell you." Ava said laughing.
We ran up to catch up with her. Sophia saw us and waved. We waved back. Sophia is that one girl that always gets excited about almost everything. She is also the nerd out of us but Sophia has the best personality. She is always happy and joyful.
"Where were you guys? I have been waiting." Sophia said.
"They showed me their new friends that they made." Kylie said pointing at me and Ava.
"Who did you meet?" Sophia asked
"I met the seven new boys that just transferred to our school!" Kylie said quietly.
"You mean the hot ones! They're friends with them?!" Sophia said.
"Why do they not believe we're friends with them?" I asked Ava.
"I have no idea." She said.
We were just talking the rest of the morning before the bell rang. When the bell rang we said our goodbyes and spilt. I saw Mark and sneaked up behind of him.
I was going to scare him but he said, "I know you're behind me Hazel."
He turned around and I gave him a irritated look.
"It's not my fault you're bad at sneaking up at people." He said joking around.
We continued to walk.
"It's not that bad." I said defending myself.
"Your footsteps were quite loud." He said.
Then Mark put his arm on my shoulders which made my heart stop.
"Now we have to hurry before we're late for class." He whispered in my ear smiling.
While we walked to class there were a lot of stares. I tried to hide my face so that no one could see my red face. We walked into the classroom and everyone's attention turned to us. We quietly sat into our seats and that's when we heard the whispers.
"Why did you put your arm on my shoulders? People might get the wrong idea." I whispered to Mark.
"Well you didn't shrug it off so I thought you liked it." Mark whispered back with that stupid smile.
I looked away with nothing else to say. My heart was beating fast and my face was heating up again. I really need to learn how to control myself. The bell rang which meant that the morning bulletin was going to start. This is a good thing because I needed something to distract me. I watched the stupid morning bulletin videos and when it was over I could feel a pair of eyes staring at me. I turned around and again met Mark's eyes. We just sat there staring into each other's eyes and not paying attention to the teacher.
"Excuse me could you guys pay attention to me and not each other." Mr. Shay said tapping on our desks.
The class began to laugh.
"Sorry." We both said embarrassed.
"Now I'm going to repeat myself for some people." He said looking at us.
The class laughed again.
"Since the class did very well on the last assignment I will be giving the class a treat."
The class was listening attentively. Mr. Shay continued.
"You have two options class. The first option is that you can film a music video."
The class had mixed emotions about that.
"Or you guys can watch a history movie on photography."
Everyone moaned.
"I you guys choice to make a music video it won't affect your grade but it will be posted on the morning bulletin. And it will be voted on. Whoever gets the most votes will win a prize."
Everyone started to talk about what Mr.Shay said.
"Quiet class!" Mr.Shay shouted.
The class became quiet again.
"I will keep a signup sheet for anyone who wants to do the music video. Oh and for the music it can be a lip sync to a song, a cover or a song that you made yourselves. You can also do it as a group or individually. Just make sure you have a filmer. The rest of the period is yours just keep the volume low please and thank you."
"So are you going to do it?" Mark asked as soon as Mr. Shay stopped talking.
"I would like to but I don't know who I would do it with. My friends aren't the best at dancing even if we do lip sync." I replied.
"You could do it with me." He said.
"I would think you would want to do it with the boys."
"You can be featured."
"I don't know Mark."
"They would love you to be apart of it."
"Okay fine."
"It'll be fun." Mark said with a big smile.
I smiled back. The bell rang and we grabbed all our things to head to math.
"Am I allowed to put my arm on your shoulder? It kind of hurts today." He whined.
"Fine you can but only for today because I keep on getting nasty looks from girls." I said sounding annoyed but inside I wanted him to put his arm on my shoulders.
So he put his arm on my shoulders and we walked together to class. While we were walking I ignored all the stares this time. My focus was on Mark. With his arm around me it brought me closer to him. I could feel once again my heart beating faster and I smiled.
"Why are you so happy?" He whispered to me.
"I'm happy that I can do the music video with you guys." I said.
That was true but it wasn't entirely true. I am also happy that Mark became one of my friends. I am glad that he sat in the seat next to me on the first day. I am glad that he is always there for me. We entered math and walked in with stares and whispers once again.
"My arm will be waiting for your shoulders after class." He whispered while lifting his arm to go to his seat.
"Gosh that boy needs to stop." I said to myself before heading to my seat with a smile.
-Time skip to lunch-
The bell rang and everyone rushed to the cafe. I was about to follow but I felt an arm plop onto my shoulders. I totally forgot about that guy.
"Did you forget because I didn't." Mark said giving me a wink.
"You're so gross. Don't ever wink at me again." I said pushing him off.
"Why? Does it make you uncomfortable?" He asked giving me another wink and this time laughing.
"No it's just disgusting." I said.
"But it's just a wink." He said not giving me a wink.
"Thank you for not giving me a wink this time." I said but right after I said that he winked again. "Whatever I'm just going to ignore you." I added brushing past him.
He walked behind of me and said, "You can't ignore me."
"Watch." I said walking faster.
He started walking right next to me. By right next to me I mean Right Next To Me! Our arms were touching. So I moved a little over to the side. Then he followed. I moved over again and he again followed. I looked at him and he just smiled. I stepped one more time but I realized that there was no sidewalk left. So I was about to trip and fall but Mark grabbed my arm and pulled me into his body.
"Why do you have to be so clumsy?" He asked letting go of me.
"Sorry." I apologized.
"Don't apologize. You can't be sorry for being clumsy stupid."
"Okay."
He put his arm again on my shoulders. With his arm he pulled me closer to him causing me to walk forward.
"I'll make sure you don't fall." He said as we walked down the stairs to the cafe.
I just looked at him with no answer.
"They must be waiting so hurry." Mark said lifting his arm and jogging down the stairs.
I just walked down following him. I wasn't that hungry so I just sat at the table and picked on Ava's plate.
"What took you so long?" Ava asked as I sat down.
"Mark was being difficult." I answered as I grabbed her fruits.
"I wasn't the one being difficult. You were the one." Mark said as he sat with his plate.
"How was I being difficult?"
"You were being clumsy." He said eating his sandwich.
"Whatever." I said rolling my eyes.
He just laughed.
"Anyways Mark said that I can do the music video with you guys." I said eating the fruits.
"You're actually going to do it?" Ava asked surprised.
"Why are you surprised?" I asked this time.
"I'm not." She lied.
"Okay then liar but I am going to do it."
"I want to see if Hazel can actually dance." Jackson said.
"Me too." Yugyeom said.
"Now we just need someone to film it." JB said.
"Ava could you film it?" I asked.
"Please." begged BamBam.
"Yeah Yeah. I'll do it." She said.
"Thanks Ava." Youngjae said.
"Thank me later. Right now we have to figure out how to win this thing." Ava said. "What song are you guys going to do?"
"We're going to do Love Yourself by Justin Bieber." Junior said.
"No. Wrong. We are not doing that song. How bout Shape of You by Ed Sheeran." JB said.
"Let's do That's What I like by Bruno Mars." Mark said.
"We'll just figure the song our later." Ava said before any fighting starts. "Let's figure out who is going to do the choreography."
"I think Yugyeom and Hazel should do it." BamBam said.
"I don't know." I said thinking back on the situation at the restaurant.
"Why not. I think it would be a good pair. Don't you Mark?" Jackson said.
"Well it is truly up to her and Yugyeom." He said finishing up his food."
"Well we'll just go with that for now." Ava said. "We have to have this done by the end of the month and I have to work on my competition. So we have to work out all the details."
"I forgot about your competition. Should we ask someone else?" I said.
"No no." She said shaking her head. "Don't do that. I'm almost done with my art anyways so don't worry about me."
I checked the clock in the cafe and lunch was going to end soon.
"We can talk about this after school. The bell is going to end soon that's why." I said.
"Okay then but by the end of today we have to have a song." Ava said.
"Yes ma'am!" Youngjae said saluting to Ava.
The rest of just laughed. The bell rang and everyone went their ways. I looked around for Mark but I didn't see him. I guess he is going to met me at class then. So I walked out the cafe and headed to science.
"BOO!" Someone shouted as I walked out of the doorway.
I flinched with horror.
"I got you good." Mark said as he was dieing from laughter.
"Haha. Very funny." I said while walking away.
"Hey! Remember..."
"Yeah I remember. Just hurry up." I said cutting him off.
"Wow your such a grump pants." He said walking beside me. "I don't like it when you're grumpy."
"Then don't scare me next time. I hate being scared." I confessed.
"Okay I promise that I will never scare Hazel Peterson ever again." He said placing his right hand on his heart.
"Well if you say it like that then it sounds so official."
"Well then it's official." He said and then finally putting his arm around me.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked pointing at his arm on my shoulders.
"I said that my arm is tired today." He said.
"But we've been getting stares and whispers. Plus some girls look like they are ready to attack me." I said. "So honestly why are you doing this?"
"Let's just go or we'll be late." He said removing his arm.
I grabbed his arm so that he couldn't leave the conversation.
"Why Mark?" I asked again.
He turned around, grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him. Then he hugged me.
"I do it because I want to be closer to you. I want to be with you. Even though this might be too early, all I know is that I like you." He whispered as he hugged me.
I heard the bell rang but he was still hugging me. My heart must have been beating so fast it felt like it wasn't safe. I started to hug him back.
"I want to be closer to you too. I want to be with you too. Even though this might be too early, all I know is that I like you too." I whispered as I tiptoed so I would say it in his ear.
He picked me up so that my face was right in front of his. I wrapped my legs around his waist.
"I'm glad." He said smiling.
I smiled back then hugged him again.
