Where was she?
He made a vow to destroy everyone and everything she loves. Why must she hurt him like flashing needles cutting your skin into pieces? He had finally found her mourning her old friend Sun. He had been found spying on the White Fang while they were making plans to rob another dust train. Sun had almost made it. Sun had been challenged to a duel by one of the new recruits and lost.
As Blake wept next to his body, Adam couldn't help but feel a bit sorry. Sure he had hated Sun more than anything, but Blake was hurt. He had tried to convince himself for years that he hated her too, and he had almost believed it until now. Here, seeing her hurt, he realized he still loved her, she was still who she had always been.
What have I done?, he thought. To think he could rise to power and do what he wanted without a consequence. And now she was hurt and he could do nothing but make her feel worse.
At that moment, he realized he had nothing he wanted. No peace, no justice, no world where he wasn't resented.
What had he become? What was all this and what was it for? What had he been thinking? How could he have thought his plans work? The one he loved most was no longer by his side. He didn't have anything to live for anymore. The things he had done.
"Every sun doesn't rise, and no one tells you where you went wrong."
